Man Who Never Was
Clifton Webb
, Gloria Grahame
20th Century Fox, 1998
Great simple spy thriller
I never knew of this film but now that I have seen it I feel it is one of the better thriller spy films I have seen. Also, it is not so over the top as any film version of it of today would be. No crazy car chase, no massive explosions... Sometimes simple is better.
Not As a Stranger

Robert Mitchum
MGM (Video & DVD), 1998
One of the first of the medical reality movies
Although many of the scenes in this epic would be judged "hokey" by modern standards, "Not As a Stranger" was one of the first films to give viewers a factual look inside the medical profession and challenge the god-like nature of physicians. Mitchum plays a young man ...

A hidden jeweled picture!
When the name of Jonathan Demme had not reached the stardom that years after would confer for him The Silence of the lambs, this movie surprised me kindly. Underneath this is a corrosive spoof of our society. A film that gives you much more you are usually to receive, ...

The Big-Box Swindle of Bedford Falls
For many, "It's A Wonderful Life" is a staple to their holiday traditions. With all major networks vying to get their hands on this mediocre blockbuster, this little film transforms from ordinary to cult status every holiday. As a viewer, outside of the final act, ...

Oklahoma DVD
I bought this for Mother's Day because my mom loved this show and knew all the tunes. Even though she has Alzheimers now and can't always remember who I am she can still sing along with the show and remember most of the words. It brings her such joy.

CUE UP WOULD-BE SUSPENSE MUSIC ...AND PREPARE TO LAUGH!
In this irresistible potboiler, Joan Crawford is Manhattan's greatest playwright AND San Francisco's wealthiest heiress, wooed by younger Jack Palance --- an actor she once fired. Cue up would-be suspense music, and prepare to laugh. Tripping, carefree, down stone ...

Excellent Chilling Portrait of a Killer and an Era
"The Todd Killings" is a lyrical, visually striking, well acted, lesser scene thriller. This film is about a small California town, where a charismatic 23 year old named Skipper Todd (!)charms his way into the lives of high school age guys and girls. There is much talk ...

great clown movie
despite its age, 1960's, if i recall, this movie is great for capturing so many of the classic r b&b clowns such as emmet kelly, etc. I don't like jimmy Stewarts white face, as it projects into the grotesque, but he is a good actor non the less. collectable for anyone ...

Mitchum and Russell Escape to Macao
This is one of Robert Mitchum's coolest films. It is not a dark noir film like "Out of the Past" but a crime caper with a great cast set in an exotic locale. It has its own atmosphere and is a lot of fun for Mitchum fans. This is pure entertainment with a breezy feel ...

WHERE ARE YOU, JONATHAN?
Maddening story of a no scruples Hollywood producer, using everyone for his own benefit. While most see this film as an indictment of the film industry, I tend to liken it to big business on a grander scale, or to Washington politics. Anyway, there's so much gall and ...

Do you like Keenan Wynn?
A must have if you already own the other Thin Man movies and are a fan of William Powell and Myrna Loy. Keenan Wynn is the treat in this movie. Without his performance the movie would not hold up. What a great actor he was. In my opinion he steals the show.
Crossfire

Turner Home Ent, 1996
"Hate is like a loaded gun."
Crossfire remains one of the best Hollywood message movies because, unlike the admirably intentioned Gentleman's Agreement, which it beat to theatres by a few months, it chooses to send its message via the form an excellent noir thriller rather than have an outraged ...
