Then we sleep just here...

Train journeys are a great thing. One must concentrate, to the train driver thanks, not on the street are and can look comfortably from the window. Yes even walk around, go for a walk, possibly to the dining car. Nevertheless, it goes on. One can sleep - with incurred curtains against the dizzy spell - wonderfully. If one wanted, one gets to know many interesting people.

No miracle that we to us resolved an European trip by train. For us young people the offer was affordable and we hoped because one can sleep in trains so wonderfully to be able to save something in overnight stay costs. To go from a European city in next by a night train, a really pleasant way is to travelling. One falls asleep comfortably, and the next day one opens the eyes, one is there where one wanted to be. Many hundred, if not even thousand kilometres from there away where one is begun. At every railroad station there is showering which one can use against payment and mostly they are quite well-arranged.

However, travelling by the night train also rescues risks, we had to find out this on own body. The night trains mostly drive off only late in the evening or even in the middle of the night. And thus one gets a problem if the train, to one to the night train brings delay has and one misses the night train with it. At 1 o'clock at night it is to be found in most European cities nearly impossibly an inexpensive overnight stay possibility. And with our ticket we had no claim to a place in the train. We had no reservation. Trains have similar passed and immediately three times on our trip, because delay in whole Europe.

The first one was sometimes in Scandinavia . We could still see the back lights of the train and waved to him, sadly and something afflicts behind. First we unloaded of our heavy backpacks and sat down. Then we searched information only in, then beyond the railroad station. However, everything was to. When we came back even the railroad station. He was deserted, far and wide nobody to see.

We searched a bank for ourselves, unpacked our sleeping-bags and made ourselves comfortable it. Although we had arranged that always one of us should watch, so that we would not be robbed, we had fallen asleep fast both. Then the next morning the fright came. I was touched softly on the shoulder and was demanded in a foreign language. When I did the eyes on, I saw a uniform. Police. This gives annoyance. There was nobody. Friendly man gave us to understand that the railroad station would be opened now again and one can take there a breakfast to himself! We also did this. Rested, indeed, with light back pains. Because it was not a bed.

The second one was not so nice sometimes. It was in a city in the south of Europe. It was hot and quite a lot of disagreeable figures hung around in the railroad station, some scrutinised us absolutely impertinently, completely in such a way as one looks at a sofa that one would maybe like to shop. We both closed no eye and drank a coffee after next not to fall asleep. I had the hand always near the penknife. Dreadfully. What ran a redemption, as the first train in the morning in the railroad station. We took him without looking where he went. Only away from here and sleep. In own compartment.

The third experience shows most clearly how different the service images of the train operators are in the different lands. We really got a hotel. And this, although we had not booked. Simply in such a way. Because the railroad station hotel was booked quite fully, we were sent in the next. One with stars. With bath on the room. With television, minibar and in the morning a wonderful breakfast refreshment bar. So nicely the travelling by the train is, so well one can sleep in the train, so well the showers at railroad stations are - if one can use the bath of a hotel room, one appreciates all at once very much. Also that one can close the door and knows that nobody will come in and ask whether still what is free.
