Necessary.
I dont think there is a need to go into to much detail about this *6 CD* set. If you can fork over the cash, just buy it. If you have any interest in roots music, just buy it. If you thought ol' Bobby Dylan and the Band made some great weird music in the basement of ...

Even babies love this music
I was just introduced to this music in a playgroup for 6-12 month olds. They were all babbling and playing away when we turned on "I had a rooster". Within seconds the babies were completely silent and looking towards the direction of the music completely entralled! ...

Fine Playing
When people are talking about great clawhammer banjo players they mention Charlie Poole and others, but seldom have a heard Ralph Stanley's name. It is a shame, and one listen to this cd will tell you why. He is as underrated a clawhammer banjo player as Rob McCoury is ...

Welcome to "alternative" classical music!
It's wonderful to hear three such talented musicians put together a collection of non-classical music on revered instruments. This is not "The Yo-yo Ma Show" with two other guys! The music is varied but the performances are great and -- in some cases, e.g. Appalachia ...

Best introduction to Traditional Bluegrass that I have seen
Best introduction to Traditional Bluegrass that I have seen. It has probably the best known songs in bluegrass. If you listen to bluegrass at all, you will probably know some of them. But this is only a stepping stone. From here you can move on to albums by the ...

Brings Back Memories to the Old (and Young)!
