Only issue is the OS

I love this little computer. I use it for everything; it's great for school. The only issue that I've had with it was the operating system. It came with Xandros pre-installed, but it is incredibly oversimplified and the icons tend to disappear on you. However, I easily fixed this by installing Ubuntu-Eee, replacing the old OS. Great, but not comfortible

Everything is great and perfect.
However, this pc needs an exteral DVD-rom.
Also, the mouse pad is too sensitive.

Pretty good, but not perfect

Well, I have used my eee pc 1000h for three weeks now, and the experience has been good in general. For the price, you can't really ask too much, but surprisingly, the machine offers quite a bit more than expected. First, the goods:
1. Reasonably fast.
2. memory can be easily upgraded. With 2GB, the
performance seems to be better than my Dell 2.4G Pentium 4 with only 1GB which cannot be upgraded.
3. The keyboard is easy to type
4. Screen is big enough for comfortable reading.
5. Wireless, Bluetooth work flawlessly
6. Quite, better than my 15" core 2 duo laptop.
7. Lots of storage! 160GB.
Now the bads:
1. Still too heavy, weighs at 3.4 lbs. When my wife carried it in her bag, the load can be hefty!
2. Battery life shorter than expected. I guess it lasts about 4 hours at most in auto mode, 3 hours most in super performance mode. Too short to be claimed for one-day computing.
3. Touchpad is a little too sensitive when typing.
4. The cover is shiny but easily smudged. Lots of finger prints don't make it sexy.
5. Too thick and my wife think it is ugly.

Overall, my experience is positive and would like to use it anywhere I go. Just wish that it can be lighter.

Love It

I've had this laptop for a week. It works great. The laptop is very portable and easy to carry around. Good battery life.

I recommend upgrading to the 2gb of memory, otherwise the computer is a bit sluggish.

I have large hands and the keyboard is taking some getting used to. However within a week I am rapidly getting used to it.

I purchased this laptop to take on the road and it is working great for that purpose.
