From a guy who loves PC games

So a lot of people say don't get this game because you can only install it 5 times... well big whoop. Firstly it has a fairly long campaign for only $30 and the multiplayer is insanely fun. If you had problems running the first Crysis, this may be a better option for you. I have a fairly powerful rig so I get pretty decent frame rates no matter what, but this one did seem to run quite a bit smoother. Now the guys at Crytek need to release a new patch to make the first one run this good. The action is intense, the music is epic, and the visuals are astounding. I enjoyed this one more than the first and I think you will to. Why do they put anti-piracy programs on these games? I'll give you a hint: RRRRR. It's not Crytek's fault that they want to protect their creation. If you don't want to be a fink just hand out 30 bucks which is less than the price of a used game and have some fun until GOW2.

More linear, not as good as the original

This game is really much more like an expansion pack than a stand-alone game. It's also split into sporadic episodes or missions, which is different to the original Crysis that played through from start to finish following one story arc. For example, when you finish a particular mission, the screen will fade to black and you'll be onto another mission whether you like it or not. I found this jolted me out of the story and was not as enjoyable as the first one.

The game as a few more weapon and vehicle types, which are interesting. There's one truck that fires exploding ammo and a corresponding large mine you can throw under it, or tanks.

A lot of the maps are disappointingly linear and not especially imaginative. I tried a number of times to use alternate routes by bounding up rocks only to find mysterious forces preventing me from jumping going any further... Also levels often just feel like you're just running the gauntlet instead of sneaking and peeking. One explosion-fest was fun but horrendously contrived with exploding barrels placed by every building and a gas station at the end.

It's an okay game, but really just more of the same.

Warhead falls below the mark

Crysis: Warhead is a fun shooter for less than[...], but it falls well below the mark set by Crysis and other AAA FPS games for the following reasons:

1. God-Awful cut scenes. Sykes spends minutes of cut scene time wordless and standing around. I think we are supposed to feel a connection with him, but I found myself getting up to get a drink during the cut scenes. Also, the voice acting was sub-par.

2. Been there, done that feeling. Many of the levels feel like pale imitations of levels from Crysis. I know, it's the same setting and it take splace during the same time period, but it just feels like I've played it before.

3. Graphics. Crysis brought lower spec machines to their knees with its graphical awesomeness, but Warhead lowered the requirements. To do this, they also cut corners and graphical quality. If you have a machine that ran Crysis at the Very High setting, Warhead looks cheap.

All in all, it's still a fun shooter, and worth purchasing if you loved Far Cry and Crysis. Just don't expect it to outshine those games.
