WARNING --- Must Read before you buy!!!!

would advise readers not to spend their money on the upgrade for the following reasons:

1. SAP who owns business objects (Xcelsius) provides absolutely no support. Your only option is the forum of which has moderators (not actual engineers). When you have a problem, SAP will not allow you to take to a live person, and they will send you a email requesting $200 to fix the issues that are known. *Before you spend your $400, read the Xcelsius forum that has a bunch of complaints from current users.

2. Xcelsius 2008 is not really a upgrade, it is has a new code that when you access your old models you will not be able to go back (this will be a problem if you share models with co-workers.

3. Xcelsius 2008 crashes with a moderately complex excel file (SAP confirmed); and Profession 4.5 does not.

For these three basic reasons.......why give SAP $400 for the upgrade!!!!

There is no benifit other than wasted money and time.

I bought the upgrade.... and sad to report I deleted the upgrade and went back to the Professional 4.5 which is fine.

Broken, doesn't work as advertised, NO SUPPORT

I've been using Xcelsius since version 3 when it was still owned by the original company, Infommersion. The supported was great and then they got bought by Business Objects and support became only so-so now with SAP support has totally disappeared. Amazing how a $900 product has zero support, not even for some initial trial period. While I like the *idea* of many of the new features in Engage (what they call the new version), most of it doesn't work. The user forms have almost no answers to posted questions and even signing up to use these forums is extremely difficult and frustrating. It is SO infuriating especially when there isn't another product that does something similar. Yes I can write it from scratch in Flash but that doesn't give me all the features Xcelsius does (assuming they worked). I still use version 4.5 since I know its quirks and bugs but wish I could use Engage for what it's advertised as (I got the upgrade version from 4.5 but don't use it).
