Just Saw Him LIVE-In Concert ...
I just saw this phenomenal musician LIVE In-Concert at House of Blues here in Cleveland. He really put it down, and his band was awesome! Once I saw the show, I purchased the CD in the lobby!

Funk Up The House
A lineup penciled in with Tom Scott, Bernie Worrell, Bootsy Collins, Maceo Parker and Fred Wesley, means it has to be a home run of
funk
, no bunts or singles or walks....and Brian Culberston is the manager of this hall-of-fame team that slams it out of the park.
The old school grooves meet some hip smoothness on Funkin' Like My Father, You Got To Funkifize, The Groove and the sweet Let's Stay In Tonight. The house is rockin' when the funk gets pumpin'. This is one hot release that sizzles from start to finish.
We Loved It!
There are not many CD's that my husband and I both enjoy, but this is one of the few. My husband loves
Funk
and I love Smooth Jazz, and I found this CD to be a unique combination of the two. We loved the guest appearances of Funk legends, especially Boosy Collins, and we would definitely recommend this compilation to our friends or even give as a gift during the holidays. But word to the wise, if you don't like Funk, don't buy anything with Funk in the title. Yaba dabba doo baby!

Spicy Funk !
Brian goes
back
to
Funk
inspiration for this album that mixes the Smooth with Funk.
"Always Remember" is a smooth-ish groove with Brian's clean piano work a delight.
Equally delightful is the highly melodic "Let's Stay In Tonight".
On the Funk side "Funkin' Like My Fathers" and "The Groove" have a P Funk flavour with co-producer Bootsy involved.
Kool & The Gang's "Hollywood Swinging" and Tower Of Power's "You Got To Funkifize" are given strong re-workings.
The killer track and strongest cover is Donny Hathaway's "Everything Is Everything", which retains much of the grittiness of the original.
An impressive cast includes Ronnie Laws, Gerald Albright, Ledisi and Musiq Soulchild on vocals, Maurice White, the leader and founder of Earth, Wind & Fire, among many others.
Overall,it's a fun album, but not his best.
Enjoy!
