Make sure you get a game manual.
The games are all really great. If you have Vista, only
Creatures
3 and Village work immediately. I haven't figured out how to get 2 and 1 to work, yet, but I heard there is a way to get them to run on Vista also. I can't play Creatures 3 because I do not have a game manual. The game is very involved, your creatures die at the very beginning of the game if they do not get enough starch, and can't figure out what types of foods have starch without a manual. So if you get this game, be prepared to also search for a manual for creatures 3!
