Great Idea and design, Quality Control is suspect

Ordered and received this smoker two weeks ago. Opted for the Stainless to match my grill. The design and layout are nice and very functional. The first thing you need to ask yourself is why are you buying a smoker? For me it was food first and experience a distant second. If you are interested in ease of use with genuine smoke house flavor then a gas smoker like this one is right for you. If if you want to become a fire master and spend lots of time tending your smoker than go with a wood or charcoal smoker, I understand that the experience of cooking can be just as rewarding as the food itself. So far I am just getting my feet wet with the whole smoker experience. I do have some extensive grilling experience though. I have used this smoker twice. The food has been great. The Chickens and different sausages got rave reviews from all who sampled. You just fill up the water bowl and smoker box with your wood chips and turn it on. You can then fiddle with the gas knob and dampers to get the desired temp. Just monitor your temps and amount of smoke from the chips and that is it. Clean up is about what you would expect. It would be nice to have a rain cap on the top damper, I rigged something up that worked fine though.

Well, here is where it goes south for me, build quality is lacking. My family owns a couple of stamping and welding plants so maybe I am going to be too tough here. There are round bar supports inside for different rack heights, one of those had a no weld (cold weld) on one side and a bad weld on the other. It just came right out with two fingers. The legs are also completely different heights. I haven't got the level and tape measure out yet to see where the problem is, but you can visually see some problems. I have had to stick a half inch piece of would under one leg so it doesn't rock. The shipping box was beat up badly. They require a signature to deliver this item, so I'm guessing this is a common problem. Just double box the thing folks! I can fix the problems in house but should not have to. Also the holes for the door hinge are off a 1/8" or so. I will be calling customer service to see if they have any answers, but will probably be easier to fix all of the problems at work.
