Good flashlight and eco friendly - no waste!

This flashlight seems like a good product. It is larger than I thought it would be, and weighs more then I expected as well. I bought it for backpacking and camping, but it's larger and heavier than I'd like to carry when hiking.

That being said, the performance is top notch. I've never had a rechargeable and/or self-powered flashlight, but this actually puts out whiter and brighter light than many other flashlights I've used. It has two mode of constant light (low and high) and a blinking mode. Even in low-power mode, the light output is plenty.

Regarding the crank, it is a it harder to turn than I'd like, but that is only because I'm lazy. Once you get it going though, turning the crank isn't really so bad.

Overall I am very impressed with this product, though I think a smaller version would be more appropriate for hiking and backpacking. I think I'll look into another model for these purposes, though I'll keep the Jonta for regular camping and emergencies.

Can't Live Without It!

I think its vital to have some sort of light when things go wrong ie. power outage, camping...where's the batteries? Don't even need to think about it with this product! You can charge AC or crank it up. I wasn't sure if it would be bright enough...discovered it was.

superb flashlight, amazing company

I actually bought another Freeplay light from Target (an Indigo lantern) but it failed. Target utterly refused to do anything about it though it was only a few days past the 90 day point. Anyway, I contacted Freeplay, not expecting much, and much to my surprise they apologized and said they'd send a new unit out right away. I was able to trade up to the more expensive Jonta unit which arrived quickly. I haven't had customer service like this since back when people washed your windshield and checked your tire pressure while they pumped your gas.

The newest Jonta uses a mini-USB standard charging port so it can charge off of your computer, and many telephone, MP3 player and pda chargers you already may have. As a result, it doesn't come with a wall charger. The older Jonta comes with a non-USB wall charger. Either way, what bliss. This is a great light, very bright, quite durably constructed (screws! How long since you've seen screws in a consumer product that cost less than 50 bucks?) and I feel sure it will last well.

I own a number of Freeplay products, a number of Kito flashlights for the car and shelves here and there in the house as well as one of their older radios. They are all fine products that work as advertised. I suspect the Indigo failure was a fluke and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one, and in fact may do just that.

I can say that Freeplay has the best customer service I have experienced in years, bar none. I've seen service as good, rarely, but never better, and NEVER for low cost items like these. An amazing company with high quality products I can recommend without reservation.
