Real
Turkish
Delight
of
Haci
Bekir
combines delicious flavours and satin-smooth texture since 1777 this speciality of Haci Bekir has been made of sugar and starch and depending on the type of various kind of nuts with flavours. This favourite sweet of oriental countries was introduced to the western world by and English traveller in the 19th century who bought it from Haci Bekir since then it has been universally popular as Turkish Delight. For over 200 years now in Turkiye and middle east Lokum is synonymus with Haci Bekir and vice versa.
Absolutely delectable!!!!
I first had this dessert(?) in Italy when our class had finished reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I enjoyed it then, and to my dismay, could not find it once I returned to the States. Then came the magic of the internet, where I finally found it!! It brought back wonderful memories. The taste is light and sweet. I am so happy to be able to order it whenever I want!!!

Fun for our Narnia Party
We purchased a variety of
Turkish
Delight
for a "Chronicles of Narnia" party. In the book and movie, Edmond is temped by the White Witch with this traditional dessert. It was fun sharing it with the guests. Most people had never tried it (us included)! My son enjoyed it the most. It is an acquired taste. I think the guests liked being able to try something completely different. My son has asked for more (not unlike Edmond!!!)
Fun treat - especially for Narnia fans
Before I lived in Turkey with the military, I never knew what
Turkish
Delight
was though I'd heard of it in the Chronicles of Narnia (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe). If you've never had Turkish Delight, I would compare it to the inside of a jelly bean. It is served in small cubes and covered in powdered sugar to keep them from sticking together. The
plain
flavor is similar to a white jelly bean. I rated it a four because it is slightly fresher and softer in Turkey, but I was impressed with the taste. Enjoy!
