Known as "religion's Mad Magazine" (Slick Times) and "the church world's National Lampoon", this "delightfully scathing, gleefully outrageous" magazine (The Washington Post) was recently recognized as one of the world's best spiritual magazines by Utne Reader.
The Door is a godsend
Christians often need a good thrashing. This magazine does the job. If you can't believe in Xity because of televagelists or the anti-intellectualism in many Xian circles, you'll want this mag arriving at your
door
. It may help you believe in God again.
I can't believe how funny this magazine is. There are interviews, short stories, and something like "Top Ten Lists" that poke fun of all that is absurd in the Christian world. Lots more, too.
It's too bad The Door is bi-monthly. I wish it arrived every week. Either way, it's nice to see Fundies get the beating they deserve. Thank you, God.

Wittenburg Door, My Favorite Magazine
The
Wittenburg
Door
magazine is just what the church needs--honest introspection, biting satire and lots of laughs. This magazine doesn't pull any punches, either at others or itself. It provides a unique look at the church from the inside.
I've been a subscriber to The Wittenburg Door (which was known as "The Door" for a number of years) since the late 80's. I've always found it to be funny, interesting and thought-provoking. The interviews are especially good.
Highly recommended for any Christian that doesn't mind having to think about their faith, especially clergy. In fact, it would make a great Christmas gift for your favorite stuffy Senior Pastor or seminary student.

Challenging, funny, offensive, worth your time.
I have long been fascinated by The
Door
, so I finally took on a subscription last year. It is what I expected. The articles are challenging, but I can gaurantee you'll eventually be offended if you're passionate about your faith. Satire serves as a mirror of our lives and often magnifies our flaws. While I don't agree with everything they say, I often find my self excited with agreement.
A recent reviewer seems to have accused the magazine of cowardice for refusing to respond to a certain other religion. The Door is Christian satire. They are believers seeking to challenge other believers and so you won't find them picking on other religions.
