There was one I do remember and it has stood me in good stead. Some kind soul suggested that I always keep a tin of pate and a box of crackers in the pantry so we'd always be prepared for unexpected guests.
Who knows how many cans of pate we've tucked into over the years, and this with forest mushrooms is especially tasty. It is well seasoned yet not strong. The mushroom flavor makes a nice accompaniment for wine, and is one that most seem to enjoy.
And, if no unexpected guests pop in within a given time you can always treat yourself.
