Simply A Wonderful Device

We have an apple tree in our backyard that, about every other year, provides us with more apples than we can handle. As much as I love apple pie, apple cake and all the other great food items that contain apples, the chore of peeling hasn't been worth the effort to save the apples for our own consumption - we've always given them away. NOT ANYMORE. Thanks to the Back To Basics Apple and Potato Peeler, we saved over 80 percent of our apples this year. This device is ideal for anyone, of any age. The last time I peeled an apple for my husband I about cut off my finger, and stated I am never peeling another apple for anyone over 3 years old again.

I bought this peeler AND corer for my husband and it works! It's heavy duty cast iron, and has a strong suction grip to the counter (no scratching the surfaces with clamps). It's quick, and fun. It's easy to clean. My grandkids and I have made 2 pies, and 4 brown bettys and many, many apple snacks since we've had it.

I am not having as much luck with the potatoes.

But it is certainly a worthy tool for the kitchen, and I am not a gadget person. It is made exceptionally well and should last many years. It makes for quick work, and the curly slices go over well with young ones.

I guess the best testimonial is this: I hadn't made an apple pie in 15 years until we got this gadget!

by golly, it does work!

I was very surprised this works as neat as it does. Out of a 1/2 bushel of fresh apples, I had problems with only about a dozen. (too large or built funny) (the apples, not me). It's really kinda fun to use! Well worth $20.

i am very pleased with the apple peeler. it works like a charm. it is very easy to opperate and cuts the time in half. a little water under the suction cup helps hold it to the counter top.

It works great, but...

IT works great. However, it cut too much apples and make the apple smaller than I expected. Overall, if you don't mind to get a smaller apple, it is very good tool. It is fast to peel the skins and cut it into smaller pieces. My wife likes it very much since it make her easy to chew the apple.
