THIS IS THE BEST!Desert Island Disc! If you own one disk of English virginal music, let this be the one. A fantastic and generous selection of pieces, a great selection of instruments (especially the virginal that is featured most prominently in these recordings!), and sublime playing (that manages to find that elusive balance between technique and heart). The consort approach to some of the pieces works very well here too. This is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind disc. It turned me on to this repertoire and to Skip Sempe.
