Get more than you expect

As the publisher of this magazine, I can tell you that it's a true labor of love and research over many, many years that makes this possible. The Wolf's Lair is not just a fanzine - in fact, far from it. It's a mix of historical reference, original imagery and entertaining stories as related by Airwolf's stars, writers, directors, producers, pilots, even the grips. Essentially it's an encyclopedia to the show.

Although there's nothing else out there like it, the closest comparison I can make is Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live, which also tells the story of a show from the participants' standpoint.

* Refer to The Wolf's Lair to learn how big-budget television was made in the 1980's.
* Peer behind the scenes to learn about those mysterious locations and spectacular aerial stunts.
* For the techies, check out the world's most famous helicopter close-up, and hear from those who flew it.
* No matter what your point of interest, you get to relive the magic of the show all over again.

Even though Amazon lists three issues per year, that's just because the magazine is published on an irregular schedule. You actually get four new issues with your subscription, and sometimes even an unexpected surprise.

If you don't see the name Clark Van Hoten inside the cover, it's not the genuine article.

An astonishing fan produced magazine - a real labour of love

So far four issues of this magazine have been produced, each one of higher quality than the last issue. The issues are obviously a labour of love produced by a true fan of the Airwolf series, but their contents are also startlingly different from most fan produced magazines. (no glossy paper here, and kept together with staples, but still produced in colour )

You don't get reams of pages and glossy photos of the actors in these publications, instead the editor has started out with a theme where each issue takes you through a department of the production crew that produced Airwolf. You get a real feeling for the size and complexity of producing a show like Airwolf that was full of helicopters and other aircraft in each episode. Its unlikely a show like this would be produced today given the cost of all the aircraft and fuel involved - and as such this is a glimpse into an era of the high budget action/adventure shows where the stars were the hardware as much as the people.

The first four issues of this magazine cover the following, just to give you some idea of the contents:
1 - The Producers (The people who bought Airwolf to life)
2. - The Designers (Art department and the people who designed Airwolf)
3 - The Builders (The people who built the impressive Airwolf helicopter)
4 - The pilots (The real "Stringfellows" of the show)

The magazines are full of rare behind-the-scenes photos and plans supplied by the cast and crew. Its amazing that after all these years something like this can still be produced. If you enjoy helicopters or were ever a fan of the show this is worth buying as you'll learn a lot about the show you'll never find elsewhere.

A fantastic resource of ALL-NEW Airwolf information

This is just a superb read on all levels. Thoroughly researched by Clark Van Hoten (with help from Roy Nelson) this magazine series reveals brand new detail on the high-flying US TV show with an emphasis on first-hand, behind-the-scenes interviews and research via the original cast, guest cast and production crew who worked on Airwolf. Backed up by original material and photographs there is absolutely nothing like this (nor any of its unique content) anywhere on the web! That's what's so amazing about it... paired with Mr Van Hoten's obvious personal affection for the show itself makes for well-researched and interesting reading. But that's not all; once you become a subscriber (in this age of Web 2.0) you'll get a unique access code to the publisher's [...] website which has additional hidden content to give another layer of interaction with the magazine itself. As Steve Jobs would say... "just one more thing"... you get a free gift with each issue, from a sachet of sand from Monument Valley to fridge magnets and other niceties.

Can't praise it highly enough and wonderful value-for-money all-round.
