Very Good, But Not Quite Great

The fireplace looks and performs just as the photo promises: it was surprisingly easy to assemble, by most assembly standards, and evidenced none of the problems noted in other reviews. A couple of flaws prevent me from giving a 5-Star rating: the finish was marred and rough around the logo and in two other places on the fireplace (I touched them up with some high-temperature black paint I had in the garage), and two of the assembly bolts rusted almost immediately after the first use.
Anyway, would I buy it again?? Yes. It's an attractive, safe, and very useable backyard fireplace.

Good fireplace

We've used this about 6-8 times over the past couple of years. For sitting in front of a nice fire it works great. In hindsight, I probably should have picked a fireplace that has more of an open top design to make it easier to roast marshmallows or hotdogs over the fire. That's not really a knock against this fireplace though, just something I should have taken into consideration before I picked it.

It's been good to us!

We've had this model for 3 years (although didn't buy on Amazon). It's been great for us. We love that all 4 side come off for the BIG LOGS my husband likes to burn, as well as roasting marshmallow. We did have to replace the log grate last year with a sturdy cast iron one. And, the screens are starting to rust. But, it was used almost every weekend the last 3 summers. And, it's been through 3 long cold snowy NJ winters. Looking to buy a new one, and just might just buy the same one.

Nice unit, damaged when recieved

I just recieved my Trentino fireplace. I recieved it in a pretty beat up cardboard box with lots of extra tape on it. This makes me believe it was opened before, or even returned before. When I opened it up screws and nuts fell from the box. Although they were all in there, they were just loose in the box. I thought, good everything will be alright. Well, the large base has a 2-3" dent in it that caused the paint to chip away. I put it together to see what it looked like and decided it wasn't worth the hassel of returning it and waiting for another one. The fireplace functions well. Like another review said, the removable screens don't firmly attach to the fireplace. It looks nice sitting far out in our yard with some adirondack chairs around it so I'm happy with it. I am just not pleased with Charbroil's flimsy packaging and the fact that Amazon would send such a beat up box with loose parts in it. My first bad experience with Amazon.

Mixed feelings

I had seen this fireplace for sale elsewhere but Amazon had the best price and free shipping so I decided to buy it, despite reading some negative experiences of previous buyers. My experience was mixed. I received the fireplace with only PART of the assembly bolts. Once side of the fireplace had what I would call a crimp in it where the paint had come off. Near as I can tell, it probably happened not in shipping but perhaps in a warehouse as the product moved from manufacturer to storage. Anyway, I decided to return it and get another one instead of waiting 2 weeks for the bolts from Charbroil like one other customer. Here's where the positive part of the experience came. I went to Amazon customer service page and clicked a link for someone to call me. My phone rang IMMEDIATELY! I spoke with a very pleasant woman who promptly ordered another fireplace at no cost and free shipping. I got an email with a link to the returns page and was able to request UPS to pick up the other item so I did not have to deal with carrying it to the UPS Store. I received my other fireplace in 2 days WITH all the necessary bolts. However, this fireplace had a similar crimp in one of the sides, but otherwise it is fine. Since we like the design of the fireplace, we are planning on hammering out the crimp and re-painting that part. So in summary, Charbroil has some manufacturing issues with this unit, but Amazon rocks for customer service.
