Carol does a great job of giving variety to the "
eating
raw
" world with all her recipes and tips. It's not an easy lifestyle change to implement but with her help it's going more smoothly.
Lots of good information for the beginner
The most interesting parts of this book are Carol's own story and her overall tips for the
beginner
in
raw
food
. As a beginner myself I appreciated her advice to try a little at a time inserting raw into your diet in lieu of worrying about switching over altogether all at once. The recipes were ok, but I live in a pretty remote location - so her general advice was of more use to me than the actual recipes. But if you live in an urban area you should have no problem at all rounding up these ingredients, and enjoying a
healthier
lifestyle!

not a bad starting place
First of all, i must note that Carol Alt is one of the rare
Raw
Food
advocates who also eats a small quantity of Raw fish,Meat and Dairy. None of the recipes include this, but it is a rarity in the raw food world, so i felt it needed to be mentioned.
The vast majority of this book is explanations of what raw food can do in your diet, how much it helped her, and other testimonials. Unlike many other "testimonial: books, this is actually a fun read. The basics of how to start living a raw lifestyle are explained, in non threatening language. How to soak seeds,sprout, make nut milks and a basic shopping list.
since most of her recipes are from NOTED Raw food chefs and high profile celebrity folks, its a pretty good book for someone who likes to read about the Raw food lifestyle world as well.
If you really want more recipes and less chat, get her other book "the Raw 50" which has 50 or more recipes, plus some chat and commentary and a *brief* overview of sprouting and making nut milks, etc. (plus a to die for brownie recipe). There are more comprehensive books, of course, but this does a good pain free job of introduction.

A+ for any new raw foodists
This book was just what I needed to explore
raw
food
ism. Carol Alt gave very direct ideas and opinions on her own venture into raw foods as well as some pretty decent recipes, tips and tricks for preparing raw foods. I count this book as a must have for anyone that is interested in this lifestyle.
Great for the beginner or who need some motivating
This is a GREAT book for those just starting to eat
raw
or who want to learn about it. I've read about the raw diet for years so there wasn't anything new here...but I thought Carol was very motivating and explained things very well. She makes you feel like she's just like you and that helps you feel like you can do this too! I think some of her suggestions are better suited for people that have alot of money to spend on
food
or who live in big cities where you can find a big supply of good raw foods - but like she says "you get what you pay for". Highly recommend to those that need some raw food motivation!
