The world we live in

Living in a college town, I have many friends who have traveled the vast reaches of the world. This coffee table book provides a natural segue for them to share their stories, turning to a particular page to say, "Look! I've been there!"

Besides being a good conversation starter, this book is also a great read. Travel "blurbs" are concise, wetting the appetite for adventure. As a teacher, I used this book to introduce my middle school students to corners of the world they never knew existed. You should have seen the excitement in their faces!

The beautiful images in this book do not claim to be a comprehensive travel guide, rather an open door to 500 new adventures. The other night, my fiance and I sat down with this book to choose our honeymoon destination. We love this book!

A really different travel book!

A great book - really different from a lot of the other travel books I've read. I actually ended up getting two of them as gifts. In particular, it breaks down trips by type - such as by rail, by car, by plane and also by such things as trips involving gourmet food or following in the footsteps of Ansel Adams. Great pictures as well.

For those who love to travel

What a wonderful book, worth every penny. The pictures are the best. Gave this as a gift to a couple who travel the world and they loved it. You feel like you are there or very much want to be there.

Journeys of a lifetime-500 greateast trips

The photography is stunning and the text is is clear.
The book gives good ideas for a tailormade type of vacation.
My niece uses it for school projects as she has no internet access.
