Harrowing and brilliant

I read this book on the advice of a friend and it completely blows me away. The poems are nothing less than stunning. They are difficult, and the revealations they come to are often unpleasant, but they are also wickedly funny and incredibly scary. This is a top notch poet (I would venture one of the best writing right in this country) who--alas-- seems to be overlooked. But this doesn't surprise me because he's as anti-Billy collins/Ted Kooser as you can get . . . as brilliant as Plath. This book is astonishing!
