In his 14th book, bestselling author Nicholas Sparks tells the unforgettable story of a man whose brushes with death lead him to the love of his life.
Is there really such thing as a
lucky
charm? The hero of Nicholas Sparks's new novel believes he's found
one
in the form of a photograph of a smiling woman he's never met, but who he comes to believe holds the key to his destiny. The chain of events that leads to him possessing the photograph and finding the woman pictured in it is the stuff of love stories only a master such as Sparks can write.
Excellent work!

it again! This book starts out having you wonder how it will be anything like the jacket says. Then it grabs you in and doesn't let go. We have a good guy, bad guy and the lady in between. What could be more entertaining?
I felt as if I was there with Logan, walking, taking care of dogs. This book is destined for the big screen. What a great story to see!
Thank you Mr. Sparks for a book so entertaining!

Wonderful story with an emotional reading
Logan Thibault is an ex-marine who has just finished his third tour of Iraq. While serving, he found a picture in the dirt of a young woman, which quickly became his
lucky
charm. Not only did he win m

y at poker games, but he also escaped death several times during his marine days.
Now that Logan is out of the military, he's determined to find the woman in the picture. Logan starts walking across the country from Colorado to the small town of Hampton, North Carolina to do just that. Once he arrives in town, he discovers that the woman's name is Elizabeth Clayton, and she lives with her grandmother Nana and her young son Ben. The three of them reside in a house that is attached to Nana's dog kennel, where they train and board dogs. They just happen to be looking for some help when Logan shows up. Nana quickly hires him and Logan and Elizabeth's romance progresses from there.
I would have to say this is easily the best story I've listened to by Mr. Sparks. The characters had me engaged from the beginning all the way to the final chapter. The budding romance between Logan and Elizabeth had me biting my nails and crossing my fingers, especially when her ex-husband (Ben's father) shows up in the story.
John Bedford Lloyd added great narration to the story with strong emotion and a talent for making you fall for Logan, too! If you've never had the pleasure of reading a Nicholas Sparks novel, I'd strongly suggest you give this one a shot!
Armchair Interviews agrees.

The Lucky One
I finished this book within a few days of starting it. Nicholas Sparks wrote another hit!
A great hero - and not who you think!
I haven't read all of Nicholas Spark's novels but this has to be
one
of the better ones!! I read it on a peaceful afternoon with the autumn leaves (I hate to say it) drifting by the window. The book fit right in.
The idea of a photograph affecting so many lives has been long in coming. I don't remember another story like it.
Logan is a survivor of 3 tours in Iraq who feels that this photo that he found there brought him through. He is obsessed with the picture of the girl standing by the ferris wheel and sets out to find her.
Elizabeth is a teacher with a young son and an aging grandmother who runs a kennel. Keith is her ex-husband who has managed so far to discourage anyone who seems interested in his ex-wife. Ben is their son who is too gentle to measure up to his father's expectations.
And then Logan finds them and the story really begins! It's gentle and absorbing and makes you glad you read it.
And my favorite hero?! Zeus, Logan's dog. I absolutely loved him!
This book is a really good read. I wonder who will be in the movie.

Another Great Sparks Read!
I found The
Lucky
One
, by Nicholas Sparks, captivating. Nicholas Sparks is a #1 New York Times best-selling author with over fifty million copies of his books in print worldwide and translated into over forty languages. Other titles include: The Rescue, A Bend in the Road, The Guardian, The Wedding, True Believer, At First Sight, Dear John, The Choice, and Three Weeks With My Brother. Nicholas Sparks has also had four of his novels adapted into major motion pictures including: Message in a Bottle, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, and Nights in Rodanthe. Nicholas Sparks resides in North Carolina with his wife and family.
While in his third tour of duty in Iraq, U.S. Marine Logan Thibault happens upon a half-buried photograph of a beautiful young woman, simply known as E. After no one has claimed it, Logan finds himself drawn to it and carrying it in his pocket wherever he goes. More importantly, he discovers it brings him luck. His friend, Victor, seems to think it was his fate to find it and calls it his lucky charm. Once he is back home in Colorado, Logan can't seem to get the woman out of his mind. Understanding just how crazy it was, he sets forth on foot from Colorado to North Carolina in search of what very well may be his destiny. He didn't have any illusions of what might await him, but he sure wasn't expecting the instant attraction to Elizabeth, the sincere fondness for her Nana, the friction with her ex, Clayton, or to fall immediately in love with her ten-year-old son, Ben. Pursuing the path he chose and attraction for Beth, they ignite a passionate affair of the heart, never knowing that the secret of how he came about the photo could destroy everything he had waited his entire life to find.
True to form, and with a power-house ending, it's no secret why Nicholas Sparks has captivated readers worldwide for some time now. How rare it is to find a man who can craft a story in this genre with so much insight in the human condition, affairs of the heart, the importance of family- and to do it in a manner that always seems new and unique. I find that to be the best part of this author, that when he has you crying, laughing, or ready to spit nails, he has the power to make you believe that anything is possible- that fate and destiny are not myths, after all. (Insert sigh here), Another great read from a true gem in this genre.
The Lucky One, by Nicholas Sparks, is an engaging, charming, and witty tale, determined to restore your faith in happily ever after again.
