The power residing in the List is not a force for good, but of unimaginable evil.

As a struggling young attorney fresh out of law school, Renny Jacobson is pining for the day he can afford the fast cars and sprawling homes of the partners in his Charlotte firm. And with news of his father's death and an ancient, secret inheritance, Renny's life is sure to change forever. But the inheritance and membership in the clandestine society that provides it soon threatens to change him in more ways than one.

Renny's life--and the life of the woman he loves--depend on supernatural deliverance from the curse of The List.

THE LIST by Robert Whitlow

My husband and I LOVE this audiobook! We have listened to it TWICE on extended auto trips--and probably will listen again another year. We wonder that it hasn't been picked up for a movie--it would be GREAT! There is great characterization, wonderful suspense in a very plausible plot--which is overall uplifting and heartwarming. Rob Lamont does a superb job of narration.

The List

The List is an excellent book. I shared my copy with a friend. By the time I got it back she had loaned it to several other people. They all loved the book. I would like to view the movie when it is made available. However, I do not believe it could be nearly as exciting as the book.

Who Would Have Thought It?!

Five years before the first shot was fired on Fort Sumter, he began warning of the coming conflict. Now, the end of November 1863, the sound of Lee's army retreating from Gettysburg, it didn't require a prophet's vision to see into the future that Judgment was coming. Secret societies sprang up after the Civil War to protect the inheritance and family resources during the turbulent time of reconstruction when carpetbaggers flooded the Southern states. Many were given the lands of others as political debts or favors. If they'd accept and even seek the houses and lands of others, they'd grab the bank accounts as well.

Recently, I was told by a bank guard that a deposit box can be used for anything, not to deceive others but to secure the family some kind of future no one else can get. It was one such deposit box which insured his place in that corrupt List. It was 140 years old, and his place in this secret organization call the Covenant of SC Ltd. was all that he received from his father's Will. He was appalled by the greed and corruption he saw at the meetings, and eventually led the government to the secret meetings.

This happened to the Jacobson family who had lost a fortune to the group when the elder died and left his estate to the Covenant, listed as charity.

Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Five years before the first shot was fired on Fort Sumter, he began warning of the coming conflict. Now, the end of November 1863, the sound of Lee's army retreating from Gettysburg, it didn't require a prophet's vision to see into the future. Judgment was coming.

At the death of Mr. Jacobson, his son was left a place on a secret organization instead of the estate or money coming to him, all that went to a charity called Covent List of South Carolina Ltd. That is the "seat" he received from the father's will. For a while, he had been cruelly deceived by evil men who managed the List. He discovered that this secret group was worse than any such organization founded after the Civil War by degenerates who would not accept the fact that the Confederates were forced to desert the rights. Some did not accept the failure.

Secretly, they accumulated the estates of like-minded Southerners, defying the law of the United States of America, and these groups made families destitute. This 140-yr-old Covenant of greed was a deception and against the law of the land. It happened to the Jacobson family who lost a fortune to the group when the elder died and left his estate. Many such secret societies sprang up after the Civil War to protect the inheritance and family resources during the turbulent time of reconstruction when carpetbaggers flooded the Southern states. Many were given the lands of others as political debts or favors. If they'd accept and even seek the houses and lands of others, they'd grab the bank accounts as well. I was told by a bank guard that a deposit box can be used to secure anything, not to deceive others but to secure the family some kind of future no one else can get.

It was one such deposit box which insured his place in that corrupt List. But he was appallled by the greed and corruption he saw, and eventually led the feds to the secret meeting place. Justice served.

Very good!

Renny Jacobson is a newly graduated lawyer. His father, who he never had a good relationship with, has recently passed away. In the will, Renny finds that he's not getting the money he expected but rather a position in a secret group called The Covenant List. On his trip back home to find out more about the list, he meets a young lady who has also just received a similar inheritance from her estranged father. His new friend has a strong faith and does not miss the spiritual connection within the group. This book chronicles Renny's journey with the group and the battles, both physical and spiritual, for his attention and his soul.

I couldn't put this book down and ended up reading it all in one day. As it's not a short book, I got nothing else done that day. Well worth the time spent!
