Little
Dog has been reformatted into a
Beginner
Book to join P. D. Eastman?s other classics:
Go, Dog. Go! and Are You My Mother? This delightful book chronicles a day in the life of Ted and Fred?two dogs who are different in every way, but also the best of friends. An irreverent introduction to the concepts of size, color, and opposites.
Classic right along with Dr Seuss

Little
Dog was probably the first book I read on my own. 20 years ago my uncle read all of P D Eastman's stories to me and now I get to read these same stories to his children. The illustrations are beautiful and the stories just as wonderful. No child should grow up without hearing these stories just once.
The only problem is that the stories can be so funny they don't really work as bed time stories, I mean, the dogs do some of the silliest things that will keep your kids laughing for hours after.

An excellent learning (and bedtime) book.
My
little
girl loves this story, it's a simple, easy to understand yet entertaining story. I also found it useful for teaching her words, on each page I would ask her to find things for me or I would point at something and aske her to tell me what it was. She thoroughly enjoyed this game and learned a lot of new words through playing it.
One of my 2 yr old's favorites
My 2 1/2 yr old loves this book! It is a great bedtime read. It teaches opposites and colors, and it's one I don't mind reading over and over again. It also conveys that these two
dog
s are great friends, even though they have totally opposite preferences.

Wonderful Childhood memories...
I bought this book for my wife who remembered having it read to her by her parents when she was a child. The book was exactly like she remembered, except for the fact that now it is in a hard back edition. We even bought an extra copy to give to her parents. They couldn't believe that we found it! Thanks Amazon.com for helping my wife revisit some great childhood memories. Great children's book! Great illustrations! Worth every penny!
Simple early reader
Okay... not that simple. But simple enough for any kid with the bare basic proficiency :)
Or, you could read it aloud to a younger child, that works too.
My nieces (5 and 2.5) request this book often enough. I'm not sure what grabs them - the opposites, Fred's plain bad luck, the silly problem and solution at the end - but they do like it a lot.
