Like a soda pop left open all night,
Bueller
seems to have lost its effervescence over time. Sure, Matthew Broderick is still appealing as the perennial truant,
Ferris
, who fakes his parents out and takes one memorable
day
off
from school. Jeffrey Jones is nasty and scheming as the principal who's out to catch him. Jennifer Grey is winning as Ferris's sister (who ends up making out in the police station with a prophetic vision of Charlie Sheen). But there's a definite sense that this film was of a particular time frame: the '80s. It's still fun, though. There's Ferris singing "Twist and Shout" during a Chicago parade, and a lovely sequence in the Art Institute. But don't get it and expect your kids to love it the way you did. Like it or not, it's yours alone. --Keith Simanton

Sloane dear, come to Daddy
During the first viewing the movie counts on surprise and anticipation.
Three high school comrades
Ferris
Bueller
(Mattew Brodrick), Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck), and Sloane Peterson (Mia Sara) take the
day
off
from school. They have several adventures which take them to many fun locations among which are a parade, restaurant, and just skirt being detected by Ferris's father. Even though this is a teenage fantasy story everyone can enjoy it.
Ben Stein gives the performance of his life as the enthusiastic economics teacher. "Anybody...anybody?"
Meanwhile the principal Ed Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), which knows of Ferris's devious ways, investigates and is foiled at every turn.
Ferris's jealous sister Jeanie (Jennifer Grey) has a few adventures of her own which include meeting a boy in the police station (Charlie Sheen.) She eventually comes to appreciate Ferris' ways.
Naive parents Katie (Cindy Pickett) and Tom (Lyman Ward) move blissfully through the movie only wanting what is best for their under the weather son.
For those musically inclined the movie is packed with great tunes.

How I love the 80s!
This movie has always been one of my faves, and I was very happy to finally purchase it to watch whenever I'm in need of a good laugh! From the opening scene to the credits, this movie is extremely entertaining and full of craziness and witty humor!
"It's a little childish and stupid, but then again, so is high school."

Memorable Movies
I've loved it since I first saw it in a hotel room. Ironically,I was quite sick at that time.
Ferris
Buller has the
day
off
, claiming he is ill, using his wits. Decade, or year doesn't mater because there will forever be those kids who would love a day on the run with no classes! Kids can easily relate, and if not there has to be something very wrong! No, I KID, REALLY!
There's a lot of goodness in here, and the brother sister jealousy is spot on.
Great fun, and laughs for everyone!

even young one's will love
i disagree with others who have said that this movie is only enjoyed by those who were "teenagers" in the 80's. i was born in the 80's and have LOVED
Ferris
's antics ever since i first saw them. i also know many of my younger friends who love this movie, and it is my boyfriend's FAVORITE movie. anyone who has wanted to skip school for a
day
of fun and adventure will enjoy this movie!!!
More 80's memories.
Another 80's movie that will NOT appeal to anyone not a teenager during that decade.
Ferris
is right up there with The Breakfast Club.
Fun when it came out.
Funny when it came out.
Did it age well?
Did any of us???
No, well, at lease I didn't.
Neither did Breakfast Club and neither has this movie.
Some fun and funny moments for those of us who remember.
Everyone else will probably roll their eyes.
Worth a rental if your interested.
