Wake up America!
I've always been a fan of Pat Buchanan and after reading this book I'm even a bigger fan. I've been a Union member for 27 years and have seen this coming for a long time. The elimination of the middle class and corporate
greed
.
Its always amazed me why the working people in this country
are
n't appalled as our elected politicians sell
America
off piece by piece to foreign countries. Why are so few allowed to control the masses?
Pat talks about failed free trade agreements that have all but destroyed American manufacturing. He says "For those who only consume are eventually dependent on those who produce." and my friends we are no longer producing.
Maybe when Corporate American strips us all of our last piece of clothing then maybe we will all wake up but then it will be to late. This book is a great read for anyone interested in the coming earthquake.
In closing I must say that I work at an oil refinery that was just sold to the Chinese. Anyone in the market for sweat shop gasoline?

Great Book
This book is definitely worth reading for anyone interested in our government and its pitfalls. Pat Buchanan has been in Washington dealing with our politicians for a very long time. He was once a very loyal follower of President Bush and now has awoken to both sides
greed
and arrogant egotism that drives everybody in D.C. The system has been broken a very long time.
A work of art
As stated let us say"
America
First" and live by it. It is proven in this book that we
are
only one to two decades away from going the way of the Roman Empire. The Author explains
how
we can stop this and the easiest way is go back to what sixty year olds were raised with. Respect, obedience to the laws, and being patriots to our country. Our government must be changed to America first and we can no longer be the police of the world. Let them stand on their own. This book should be a must read for all our young so they will know exactly how we got in this mess and how to simply get out of it. America First.

Day of Reeckoning
The book was great even though I did not agree with his analisys in some instances. He goes into debth as to
how
he reached these conclusions.
Hard-hitting
It's a wonder that I would ever write a favorable review of a book by Pat Buchanan, but his new offering, "Day of
Reckoning
" is a terse and pointed look at The United States today.
America
is in decline, we all know it and the author reminds us why on a number of subjects.
Buchanan saves his harshest criticism for the failed presidency of George W. Bush. Through matters foreign and domestic, Bush has mirrored the decline in the stature of America throughout the world and the war in Iraq gets much of the author's attention. The dismal five years of Bush in Iraq, Buchanan reminds us, has cost the nation deeply in dollars and blood. The author is terrific when he's on message about Iraq but less successful regarding immigration. That issue is far too complex to be settled by simply building a wall and deporting millions of illegal immigrants.
"Day of Reckoning" is an important addition to the dialogue of what's gone wrong with this country. It's easy to see why a liberal or a moderate could arrive at the same conclusions but when it's written by a conservative, the issues take on an added heft. Pat Buchanan has done a good job at pointing out the "wheres" and the "whys" of post-9/11 America and I commend him.
