Turn it up, way up, and listen, then compare

not only to all previous Def Leppard efforts, but against most rock bands today. In terms of power, aggressiveness, speed, virtuosity, intensity, bite, and emotionality, DL is playing on a higher level, across the board, particularly with their superb guitar work. Do you not hear how freekin' massive those chords are on "Go," "C'mon," "Tomorrow," "Hallucinate," "Only The Good Die Young" and "Gotta Let Go?" How about those explosive, shredded leads?; alltogether blistering and dangerous, yet so melodic and sexy. This is just one of many superlatives. Songwriting, hooks, production, vocals, choruses, all showing depth, maturity and mastery, synergize for an exponential effect; an experience greater than the sum of the parts, resulting in one of the greatest albums in Def Leppard history. The fact that they can put out this kind of work in 2008 is simply astonishing. Not only can no one else
from
the mid-70's who are still around kick it out anywhere close today, but for that matter, what "modern" band rocks the way Def Leppard only can? Who, I beg you? Let's face it, Def Leppard is a league all their own and we should be ever so grateful for them!

Perfect Comeback.
Pyromania, Hysteria and SFTSL. Third best album at their music history.
If you like clasic sound of Def Leppard, you will love to this work.
The sound is case mixed of Pyromania and Hysteria.
Just buy it, Never regret.
Finally!!
They made up for the Yeah album that sooo disappointed me!! Thanks for bringing the great band back to me!!
Too Pop
For me it sounded more like an album that was made to sound like Lifehouse/Nickelback/Foo Fighters. Very Lifehouse especially on Come Undone and Tomorrow and Hallucinate. Of course with more guitars. The
songs
are arranged very similar to how Lifehouse arranged their songs and also some Foo Fighters too. Most of the new songs starts out sounding like post grunge music that's why the reference to Nickelback. Joe Elliots voice is not cutting it either. C'mon C'mon tries very much to recapture Women of Hysteria and so is Go the first track on the album. Only The Good Die Young, Bad Actress, Gotta Let It Go, Love, and Cruise Control just drags. These songs are very bland on the first listen. ..a little better on the second spin and then on the third listen ..you feel that it's a waste of time.2 songs are good. Nine Lives will keep your toes tapping and Hallucinate will be a very good stadium song. I have all the albums
from
On Through The Night to Adrenalize. I did'nt really care for all the albums that came after that. I owned Slang too and thought it was better than this one. One thing I cannot figure out is why they sound so bad with Viv Campbell. I have the biggest respect for Campbell as we all know his work with Dio and Whitesnake and some solo albums too. Vivian Campbel is way more technical, faster as far as I'm concerned than Steve "steamin' Clark. Dio was actually very bitter when Campbell won't come back to him. I was actually very excited when he joined Def Leppard for the first time... for he is supposed to make us raise our fists and yell more with the way he played with Dio.. and that would be a very welcome addition to the sound of Def Leppard..but it's just not there. You can't hear his signatue sound..the shred and the aggression...Don't get me wrong...I'm not putting down Steve. I always love Steve Clark's genious. It is just not the same without him. I firmly beleive that Steve is the one that makes Def Leppard stand out because of his unique phrasing and timing. They need to encourage Vivian Campbell to write more songs and put his signature hooks...and move on...or else they will always sound like a band that has lost their talent because one of the main member is not there anymore...always lacking and falling short of their previous achievements. Please move on...or can you?

An unexciting Def Leppard album. How is that possible?
What a bummer. In their catalog, "
Songs
From
The
Sparkle
Lounge
" will NOT be considered as one of their best records, nor one of their worst.
It's going to be forgotten.
Seriously. It's kinda boring, a word rarely seen in a review of anything Def Leppard has done.
Their songs are usually ridiculously tuneful; pop hooks married to crystalline, anthemic rock. Soaring vocals, massive beats and cathedral-like guitars, y'know? Here, the melodies are hardly memorable...nothing you want to sing out with the top down.
The production usually leaves you gasping for breath, with a delirious tempo change or sudden a-cappella break. Here, it's all more or less the same. It's not bad, by any sense. These guys are such pros that they'll never make a BAD sounding record. It doesn't have the energy and style...the chutzpah...that earlier records have.
I played this twice in a row; I never felt the urge to skip after the song started, but then again, I never felt the need to go back and hear it again.
I was one of those people who could play (and probably still can) "Pour Some Sugar On Me" five times in a row and still get thrilled by the killer hooks.
I even loved "Euphoria!"
The last thing you'd expect from a band you like, after hearing their new album, is apathy. That's worse than hating it...
