Fabulous for Dog Nail Trimming

I purchased this cordless Dremel rotary tool after reading other reviews claiming this product turned the trauma of canine nail trimming into a peaceful event. Also helpful was the recommendation of some reviewers that this particular model had sufficient battery power (unlike the cheaper Dremel model) to get through the manicure and then some. Well, it's true -- it is all true. I have two dogs and not only did I do the nails on both dogs but there was still plenty of power left for me to buff my wedding rings to a nice shine (with the included buffer wheel).

Be sure, as some have stated, to trim the fur around the nails so it doesn't get caught up in the sanding wheel. Use the low speed and the fine sanding wheel (the one on the loaded on the wheel is the coarser of the two -- so switch it out with the other included sander ring). The rotary tool is very quiet. I have a normal corded Dremel and it is considerably louder. I also wasted $50 on a rotary tool in a dog specialty catalog that was designed specifically for this task. It was so loud that neither of my dogs would let me near them with it -- hence my great trepidation purchasing yet another rotary tool. But, the monthly drama of the nail trimming was enough to push me to try one more time -- and I am so glad I did. Both dogs have black nails and the quick is impossible to see. This is the best money I have ever spent. I took more off their nails than I have ever been able to in the past and the nails were neatly sanded and the dogs untraumatized. Although be patient when approaching them with the tool -- go slow and they will quickly get acclimated to it.

THIS WAS GOOD

I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY PET " DIVA " TO DO HER NAILS WITH INSTEAD OF THE DOG CLIPPER AND IT WAS WONDERFUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!IT TAKES A BIT TO GET USE TO HOLDING IT CORRECTLY BUT THIS ITEM IS FAB AND I WANT TO BUY MORE OF THE ACCESSORIES THAT COMES ALONG WITH IT BECAUSE I NOW ALSO ( CHANGE THE FILE OF COURSE ) AND USE IT TO GIVE MYSELF MANI AND PEDICURES. I CHARGED IT OVERNIGHT WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT WHICH WAS OVER ABOUT A MONTH OR TWO AGO AND HAVENT HAD TO RECHARGE YET!!!!!!!

Great for dog nails

I bought this specifically to file my dog's toe nails. What a wonder. No more hysterics when nail trimming time comes. I cannot recommend this product any more highly than that.

Dremel Minimite Rotary Tool

Bought this tool to trim puppy nails as nail clippers were difficult on other dogs I've had. This tool is great! Fast, neat job (outside is best as nail clippings are powdered). Tool allows me to grip nail and hold dog's pad and paw in my hand and trim with the other. Used twice, puppy doesn't seem to mind too much either, should get used to it in no time.

Perfect for Filing my Dog's Nails

My dog (boxer/lab) absolutely refused to let me cut his nails. After only a few sessions with the Minimite (with a treat after each nail), he happily plops down and hands me his paw. It might be a bit better if it worked more quickly on the low speed, but maybe I need a coarser filing drum.
