Play this one at "Junior Detective" level!
This game is spooky, and I like spooky games. It is also the most challenging one in the series, to date, which can make it quite boring when you're stuck. I usually play these games at "Senior" level, but I'd suggest playing this one at "Junior". You don't have to use the hints or refer to the checklist if you don't want to, but when you're stuck, it'll make things smoother and more fun. Unless you're a serious sleuth up for the cerebral challenge, of course. Great graphics.

ok im not going to do this all again, what i want to say is that you can only call ned in the way of
nancy
's friends and he doesn't give you hints or ANYTHING which i HATE becasue you can hardly talk to him and i like bess and george!!! plus this game is just random puzzles, a lot of them to do with alchemy and in my opinion, all hard. the 1st quarter of this game is fun, the rest, not so much. i can't say i reccomend buying this, though if you like challenges and puzzles thta really test your brain (and patience!) this is for you. oh and you get to order food and eat it (YUM!). but the british accents are pretty fake. at least jane's . oh well. i like the idea but i don't really like how the game is put together. if her interactive did this game with the same idea but put together in way that doesn't involve so many random things and more to do (not i don't mean puzzles) i would probably buy it. see fo r yourself. if you want to try buying it used. you might like it and it's less money. so if you think its a complete mess at least you won't have wasted as much money! :)

The curse of blackmoor manor
OK I looked at other's people's review and a lot gave it 5 stars. I have to say I disagree. 3 is as good as itgets. I guess thoswe 5 star people like really hard stuff and dont mind that it is extremely difficult and alchamy and hard. Mostly i dont like the secret passage. you know i spent a LONG time trying to find this stone thingy that you pick up and then trying to get back. well u dont use it for anything u dont need it. so i havethis thingy. i solved the mystery then i played again and didnt find the stone thingy. no i dont mean the glowinggo one i think its a map type thing. but i love the
nancy
drew
series. there really good. but i reccomend buyning an easier one and better one first if this is ur first game. then try this one later once u get good at nancy drew. hey i like this game its just way down my list of nd games. it my 3rd least favorite after the first two. but i like it im just saying that its not the best one and her interactive just didnt do as well on this one. but if u like really hard puzzles then here you go. just my opinion. the other ones are better exept ofr the first two. enjoy! either this one or another depending on what you like.
oh and also this is a little creepy but not too much. plus it has witchcraft in it kind of, imnot saying thats bad. its not bad. just somepeople get offended for ssome reason. not like anyone s a witch or anything but a long time ag o a penvellyn was tried as a witch. nice idea the game just doesn't quite cut it.

Difficult, Sometimes Boring, But More-or-Less Fun
My first review (for Danger by Design) was long(ish) so I'll try to keep this one short.
I kind of like this game. If I could, I would rate it 2.5. 3 is only 1 less than my review for DBD (and I like that game). The
Curse
of
Blackmoor
Manor
has fun parts and partly interesting characters, but overall it moves slowly and is tedious. I didn't like how you can't go outside in "The Curse of Blackmoor Manor". Usually I don't really mind, but there isn't much to do inside. I'm going to give the pros and cons of each character.
Jane- Jane is the daughter of Linda, the person you are investigating. She is 12 years old. She also has a MAJOR passion for games. Also, a truk full of them. Which you can play. Acually, you have to play them in order to get certain things from Jane. In my opinion, her games aren't very fun.
Linda-Linda hides beind a curtain and doesn't like answering questions. She is also convinced she is cursed and seems to enjoy giving warnings disguised as threats (or are they threats disguised as warnings?) Depending on what you say to her, different things will happen, none of them important or necassary.
LouLou- a parrot! And the star of the show. Cute, talkative, funny, and smart- PLUS she gives hints! What's not like- ahem, LOVE?
Ethel- You only talk to her about 3 times the whole game. She pops up- and I mean, she literally pops up- whenever you least expect it. I like her, but man, did she SCARE me!!! She doesn't seem to like
Nancy
much- but I like her!
Nigel and Mrs. Drake- Not that interesting. Nigel, a historian, talks WAY TOO MUCH- AND is very boring. Mrs. Drake is OK but doesn't do much- just stands around, putting a damper on Nancy's "fun" (ahem)and Jane's, too and talking to her plants.
This game seems to be a random assortment of puzzles that takes a LONG time to solve. It is scary in some parts but not much. I like the 1st quarter of the game. The rest is pretty hard and boring. If you like hard puzzles and history, this game is for you. If not- wait until someone gives it to you. :)

Disapointment
I have to say I thought this game was going to be really good but it wasn't. It was OK. I think it's very hard. Partly entertaining. But Her Interactive wasn't exactlly in it's finest hour with this game.
