Marvelous
My god, I love this show.
If you've read any of the other reviews, you already know what it's about. Be forewarned, it doesn't reinvent the wheel. Each episode follows a formula and has a pretty clear theme to it. The forumla works, though, and it follows a pretty logical progression: people go to a hospital because they are not well. Dr.
House
senses something amiss in each episode's particular patient that no
one
else notices (because he's the best) and their condition worsens. There's trial and then error until an answer is found. Sound familiar? Yeah, that's how medical cases tend to work outside of TV as well. The difference is, in House, people learn life lessons along the way that are passed on to the viewer.
The writing is very entertaining. It's not the most subtle wit - life would be frustrating if everyone spoke like in Deadwood - but it's leagues above shows like Smallville. You will laugh and, hopefully, you will feel little rips in your heart in a few of the more touching episodes. Overall, it's very sardonic, honest, funny and dramatic.
The acting is truly top notch. The main character, Dr. Gregory House, is superhumanly good at what he does and subhumanly offensive at times, but that only matters because Hugh Laurie does such a fantastic job of portaying him. Take as a testament to his skill some of the lower score reviews that lambast the character as being rude and offensive. If all you want is a nice, safe, warm and fuzzy show where everyone "good" is likeable and the main characters get along, go elsewhere. The characters in House are, though not entirely realistic, not paragons of virtue. The actors all let the characters' flaws shine through as well as most other shows polish and groom their stories for simple minded family viewing, so much so that some viewers are rubbed the wrong way. Could bad actors do that? Besides, crass, offensive pricks need some sort of syndicated representation too, right?

Great TV show with an even greater cast
I recommend buying the 1st
season
... 1st. A little repetitive i know. Though I don't recommend it for chronological reasons. In my opinion the Vogler story in the 1st season beats any other. The show usually has a great balance between humor and drama. Occasionally there is an episode that weighs heavier on the drama but for an all around fun time I would suggest
House
.
Best Show on T.V.
Its
one
of the best shows I have seen on T.V. ever. No other show even comes close.
Excelente

season
s 2 and 3 were on sale at Target for $24.99
I overpaid for the DVD by $10.00. This is the last time that I will purchase DVD from Amazon.
