on Removing cones

I've seen a number of complaints about removing the cones on this attachment. It has been a while since I've used any older versions of this accessory but I recently purchased one locally. If one looks at the 12 o'clock part of the face of the plastic hopper/housing there is a square hole just the right size to insert the shaft then twist a cone on or off. It is explained very well in the kitchenaid website product guide.

I have only used it to shred cheeses but was reading these reviews for some new Kitchenaid ideas.

Incredible labor-saver

Sturdy construction - gets the job done quickly. Easy to clean. I love this tool!!!

It works just as I hoped it would.

This product works well. I've shredded carrots and cabbage so far, and it does the job. I'm pleased with the ease with which it connects to my Kitchen Aide mixer, although the instructions leave a little bit to the imagination. They don't mention the lever that needs to be pushed in order to release the cones, but it's easy enough to figure out on your own. The hopper could be a little larger, but it's okay.

Difficult to remove cones from shaft

It is very difficult to remove the cones from the shaft. My two adult daughters and I could not remove the cone from the shaft. Much to KitchenAid's credit they promptly sent out a replacement cone and shaft which is why this review is getting three stars. Their customer service is outstanding!

I will try removing the cone, while attached to the mixer, as one of the reviewers suggested.

For now it remains difficult to take the cone off the shaft.

As to slicing, shredding, etc. the mixer does an outstanding job. It quickly sliced about half a pound of Cheddar cheese (I chilled the cheese well as recommended in the booklet).

I used the shredding cone to shred some cheese too and the machine performed flawlessly.
