candy thermometer review

This purchase was to replace a Taylor candy thermometer that my wife had used for nearly fifty years. The old one is still very accurate but the scale had worn off and is very difficult to see. The new one is still the same quality and is much easier to see. We purchased two additional Taylor thermometers to give to grand daughters so they can continue the family candy making experiences.

easy to read, easy to use: result is great candy of the type dependent upon properly cooked syrup.

Works well, but big

Seems to work as advertised but a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Overall pretty good, only knocked it down one star due to the size.

Accurate Yet Disappointing

As others have mentioned this thermometer is quite accurate and is easy to read during the cooking process.

The disappointment is that after only 2 uses the numbers were substantially faded/smeared to the point of being unreadable.

As a final note my lovely Bride was making some sort of toffee candy and only took the thermometer up to 305*F (hard crack) and had washed the thermometer as suggested on the packaging.

Oh - and who in the world tagged this item as a DIGITAL thermometer??? Sheeesh.....
