Like this a lot

No tools or assembly required! This bookcase looks very nice and the shelves fold out for the easiest assembly ever.

Expected TALLER but for the price it's great!

As others have noted you definitely need to have in mind the size/height you are looking for. When shopping online I just looked at the picture and it looked taller in the picture than it actually is in real life but the low price more than makes up for it! Excellent color. Goes with most of todays modern furnishings. The workmanship isn't the best but you get what you pay for. Easily sets up in minutes - that's what I liked - just unfold and !voila! Instant Shelf! If I can find another one that's TALLER I'll definitely purchase again.

The Best Part...No Assembly!

If you want something cheap and easy, this is the bookcase for you. It was well-packed; I had no problems with damage. Once I got the box opened and removed all the packing materials, all I had to do was let the shelves fall into place. I just moved and I am so tired of having to assemble every little thing--this was a refreshing change. It looks fine, but the finish is definitely "cherrier" than the picture leads you to believe. Also, it is a tiny bit wobbly; the other reviewer who recommended bolting it to the wall is right if you think your children/pets/whoever will knock it over or if you plan to really load it with stuff. I use it for CDs and DVDs, so it's holding up well. Be sure and note the dimensions; the bookcase measures roughly 4' high by 2' wide, it's not very large at all. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase.

Love the bookcase!!

VERY good quality! My only criticism, I wish it were taller. I will have to order another one to accomodate all my books. But, like I said, it's a great quality, looks fabulous, and hello?? there's no assembly!

Not Tall, But Still Dark & Handsome

Intro
I was a little disappointed with how short it was, but I realized that I purchased it for its overall deceptive online good looks and my desperate need for a bookshelf that didn't weigh a ton and would not require hours of assembly. Where it failed in the first category of height, it excelled in the others.

Appearance
This looks like it could be a vertically challenged cousin of some of the luxury book shelving seen at Linens-N-Things, Pottery Barn, Pier One, or even World Market! The dark, almost cherry wood coloring gives it a sense of prestige and the easel design really does increase the aesthetic appeal of the piece. It holds the books and maintains its overall beauty.

Assembly
There is literally NO assembly. You open the box, slide the item out, remove all the wrapping/styrofoam, stand it up, open it, and presto, the levels fall into place and you have a very lovely easel-styled bookshelf.

Quality
I had worried about the max out on weight, as all my design books are ridiculously heavy. This lovely piece has taken a beating and is still standing strong. I love how I've not seen any level bow under the weight of the books yet, as is very typical for Target furniture in general. I remember a CD center from Target that I had to throw out after a year's use because the levels had completely given out under the collection.

Flaws
As I have mentioned, most of my collection is design books, some of which are much larger than that of standard books in all aspects of height, width and length. Where as the majority will fit without too much hesitation, some will not. This forces me to break up themes or collections and disperse those with too great of a height to the top shelf -- being the only place they will fit.

Notes
When placing books for the first time, make sure you use much larger/thicker books for the "book ends", as the spacing on the sides does not accommodate smaller books -- they will fall through.

In Closing
Overall, I am somewhat content. I am not very sure that this piece was worth the price after shipping, but I kept it because it is not worth the hassle of returning it. If I could start all over again, I probably would have gone to Linens-N-Things and purchased the easel-style bookshelf they boasted, as it was only a $75 difference and I would have greatly enjoyed that piece more, especially visually.
