Quad is back
First off, for party shuffle CD gurus this is not a quick fire load 'em up and spit 'em out rapid fire deck. This deck, which acts well as a standard CD
player
loads slower due to the on board interpretation and decoding software/hardware on board to select playback. There you go, now for my review...
Playback sounds
disc
rete and clear and robust. If you are a fan of mid 70's quad technology from reel and cartridge tapes, here it is, without wear and dropouts. On a 5,6 or even 7.1 system you will get 4 discrete channels plus center, woofer and the ambience you desire selected on your amp.
Sony
has done wonders in recent years allowing me to re-explore my old media (reel, cartridge and vinyl). Many newer Sony amps have a 4-channel input and output set of ports to accomodate this unit. The 4 channels are not matrixed or decoded. There are infact direct streamed!
I actually had my old quad deck on my amp, the tapes are worn and don't hold up. Exploring Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds or ANY of the Moody Blues SACD's will penetrate you and surround you. Absolutely fantastic.
I consider myself, atleast, a novice
audio
phile. The range output is brilliant, deep and mids are not lost at all. On the Moodies rec-er-SACD's all the brilliant background picking, rythms and melotron are almost spookily brought out in a wonderful surrounding mix.
If you still treasure quad, and you don't have a 4-channel amp and SACD player-YOU'RE WRONG!
Highly, highly recommended. No mechanical or coding troubles noted, plays all of my discs, old and new, 2 or 4 track.

Always a Sony
In true
Sony
-quality, it plays wonderfully, sounds wonderfully, the display is bright so you can see what
disc
& song is playing, it opens and closes soundlessly...My only complaint is that the labels over the controls on the
player
should be in a color other than BLACK! Would make seeing them A LOT easier!
Super CD Player
This CD
player
does all you could ask of a CD player, and at a reasonable price. Highly recommended - with typical
Sony
quality.
Sony SCD-CE595 5-Disc CD/Super Audio CD Player
Looked at Denon, HK and Onkyo but settled on this primarily due to price and am very pleased with my choice. Shipping was also
super
fast. Not sure if I'll use the Super
Audio
, but nice to have anyway. Great purchase, highly recommended.

A good buy
This is a good CD
player
for the price. The only problem is you can't turn if on and off with the remote.
