Definitely "OLIVER"

There may have be a few versions of OLIVER produced over the years but this version is definitely the best. The casts, the choreography, the musical etc are simply first class, soothing and most nostalgic. Strongly recommended for those who remember the famous line " Sir, I want more"...

Oliver at its best

This is a great set. I had Consider Yourself stuck in my head for a week and I couldn't find the soundtrack anywhere! Then I came across this double pack on amazon and it was just the ticket. Perfect for me and my ipod.

YOU'LL BE SINGING 'CONSIDER YOURSELF' FOR A WEEK!!

The 1969 Academy Award winning Best Picture will leave you singing for a week. A wonderful musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' OLIVER TWIST, it makes for a wonderful evening of family entertainment. While rated G, there is some violence and darkness that may be a little too much for very young children. Set in 19th Century England, it conveys in a light hearted but yet sober manner the social problems prevalent then, especially child labor which Dickens tried to portray. Although a hefty two and half hours long, the time goes fast. The music is upbeat, the costumes and choreography and settings are all terrific. Well deserving of all its honors-a classic for the ages. For a few dollars more, get the DVD/SOUNDTRACK combo. It's well worth it. WWW.LUSREVIEWS.BLOGSPOT.COM

Another generation

My mother took my sister and I to the Beltonian movie theater to see Oliver!, when I was 10 years old, in an effort to expose us to some culture. I loved it. I bought the VHS as soon as it came out several years ago. My grandchildren have loved the movie too. Aiyana turned 7 yrs old in Nov.07 so I thought I would give her this set for a gift. She loves it! Her mom says they all know the words to all the songs. I may give my other daughter's family a set for Christmas!!

Fine film due to excellent adult performances

I come back to this film several times. I find it noteworthy for several reasons. The most important of which are the acting talents of the two male leads, Ron Moody and Oliver Reed. Both gentlemen add the right spark of chemistry to this dark Dickensian tale of bad vs. good. I love the voice of Shani Wallis as well as her performance. The film tends to be a bit slow at times -- I do not suggest that it needed editing, just moving along. The musical numbers are breathtaking. This picture deserved the Oscar, and Onna White's choreography is inspired and fun!

Catch it.
