"Dream Cast" is Right - and VHS is best

I first saw this concert on public TV, and was thereby persuaded to make a pledge to get the videotape of the concert. Ten years later, I still love watching this tape.

The cast members are outstanding, especially Lea Salonga as Eponine and Colm Wilkinson as Valjean.

I saw the NYC production of Les Miz twice after seeing the concert version and, oddly enough, the live production seemed less grand in scope compared with this concert edition.

This is something worth buying.

2nd best thing to the musical. Ever. I didn't think I'd enjoy a concert style version of Les Mis... but I loved it. 6/5 stars.

Les Miserables - The dream cast concert

I thought the CD was excellent, well staged, and different than anything I had seen before. The voices were outstanding. I didn't like that it was done so far in the past(late 90's) and I hadn't heard of it before now. A Mr. Josephson of "character counts" is why I heard of and purchased the CD at this time(July 2006).

This is a fantastic performance of a great musical. If you've never seen Les Mis before, or don't know the story, this is also very helpful in understanding the play. When you see the play it is sometimes hard to keep up with all the details of what's going on, but this gives you the broad strokes to help you enjoy the full blown performance better.

Review of an excellent evening

Les Miserables was even so much superior than I had expected. Some 58 earlier I was in a class that translated from the book, at that time I did not think that I would be so graced as to view the authors work, as I did with this piece. Would very highly recommend this to anyone wanting a evening to be remembered, See it for certain, as it is so little money for the feelings you will enjoy for days, plus.
