Hip, girly, fun and practical

A great read and a great buy! This book gives fun and hip, but practical, advice on the move-in. Easy-to-read style and fun quizzes keep the practical stuff from getting bogged down in legal mumbo-jumbo. A must-read before the move-in, but it could also help you learn why the living-together isn't working out for you. The relationship advice has already helped my boyfriend and me keep the little matters from becoming huge blow-ups. We are already living together, and now I know what to do to get what I want out of the relationship!

Could be better.

I bought this book as I am about to have my boyfriend move in with me, and thought it would fun to have a little "How To" manual. This book was not too fun. First of all, despite the jazzy cover and seemingly up beat description of contents, the book is text-heavy. Chapters seem to drag on forever and the little "Cosmo-style" quizzes are few and far between. The chapter on legalese for live-ins and money matters are very much geared to the "Judge Judy" crowd who break up and argue over who paid for how much of the entertainment center and whatnot. I have a feeling if you're buying this book you already know better than to get a joint credit card. Also, some of the advice is just inapplicable to a lot of younger couples. I don't think most people in say, their early 20s, can afford to rent a whole new apartment, complete with seperate bathrooms and living spaces so your boyfriend can have his own "man cave."

Also, the book is poorly organized. Instead of having a more in depth table of contents, the authors just refer to other parts of the book as you read along, making it a little awkward if you try to flip back and forth. And though they do mention some other good books to read on different subjects, they could have complied them in the back of the book for easier reference.

So all in all, if you just want to do some light reading, a pick up a few pointers and learn a few random facts, (like what states "shacking up" is illegal in) go on and read it. At the library.
