" A Brilliant Story"
I love this book! It's fiction but there are facts about
Leonardo
's works. The
novel
is about rivalries of two sisters.. Beatrice and Isabella. Two young girls who married powerfull men. It hapends that Beatrice, who is younger than Isabella married Ludovico. The most powerfull man in Italy. The rivalry started when Isabella fell in love with Ludovico and a self portrait from Da' vinci himself.
The story was well written.. each characters had their own side of their story.
What a novel should be
I rarely get to read fiction because my work requires a great deal of non-fiction research. When I opened this book, I was hoping that it would give me the mental vacation that I love about

s. It delivers and transports the reader to a fascinating time and place.
I hope they make this book into a film, I've already cast it in my head!

Leonardo's Swans: Worth every minute!
I picked this book because I had read Karen Essex's two previous books, Kleopatra and Pharoah. (which by the way, if you haven't read them - You Must!!!) Like her two previous books, as soon as I opened
Leonardo
's
Swans
, I was instantly transported into the world of Essex's characters. Fantastic characterization and thorough research make this book a great must read. Once I finished, I sought out images of Da Vinci's paintings described in the book in order get a glimpse of how Da Vinci had painted these characters. Even if historical fiction isn't really your favorite kind of book, the characters and their conflicts are so intriguing that you'll find yourself wanting more.

Good for it's type
I have been getting into more historical fiction - so I gave this book a try. I was very interested at first because of all the political intrigue. I liked the book until the last fifty pages or so where I lost interest. It just seemed that all the build up was a let down at the end. I got really bored with Isabella's obsession of getting painted my
Leonardo
. I thought the writing was pretty good and I loved looking into Leonardo's genius through the imagination of Essex. That alone gave the book four stars.
