Why Wal-Mart is where it is now!

I definitely see why Wal-Mart is the largest retailer in the world! This is a step-by-step guide on how to create a successful business. Anyone can do it as long as he/she is motivated, dedicated, selfless, flexible, passionate and a lifetime learner. (Easier said then done, right?!)

I enjoyed the writing style. He wrote personally and I enjoyed the comments provided by the people that he was referring to. It added another personal touch making it seem like Sam was not just making stuff up.

REGARDING SAM
Sam Walton was an amazing man. He was always learning and flexible. He is the role model that many business people should follow in order to be successful.

TAKE AWAY
Another interesting thing that many of today's CEOs can learn from Sam is to learn from their people. If nothing else, all leaders in all types of organizations can learn from this! (This is actually a cornerstone of my company's philosophy.)

This is definitely another book to add to Esenai's corporate library...

This is a business-man's journey from small Dime Store owner to the CEO of the multi-billion $ generating Walmart chain.

Among the treasures of this book are the ways in which Walton describes adapting his operations and distribution control as Walmart increased in size, methods of scouting out expansion opportunities (i.e. Flying by plane to see where roads and new housing development were being constructed, island placement), quail hunting excursions, and the thinking processes within Walton and those decision-makers close to him as Walmart evolved along each step of the way.

This book is a must read for all entrepreneurs, managers, or retail sales people. Telling the story of Wal-Mart and founder Sam Walton, Made in America really tells a story of the American dream. Full of anecdotes from the early days of the company, Walton also gives advice on how to become a competitor. The reader can feel the emotion and the love for the company as Walton pours forth his words. Each chapter is laced with perspectives from a multitude of people including everyone from his wife to the CEO of K-Mart.

This book is family safe and recommended for everyone. Love or hate Wal-Mart, this book shows an inspirational story and may clear up some misconceptions. Walton is unapologetic in this book for his success and welcomes any new competition. An exceptional read.

Most Greatest Book Evar!!

I did read this hyar book yessuhterday an it made me darn happy. The super Wal-Mart in town is grate. Walton is a good man. Walton talks mostlee about accusashuns aginst him, sech as runnin the competishun outta town. I give this hyar book four stars outta five. I wooda haf given it five but it is hard ta read in some places

A good primer to understand the advent of the world's largest company

This book is a must read for anyone who has any pretense of becoming an entrepreneur..No, don't get me wrong - this doesnt talk about how to prepare business plans or financials..instead, this speaks to you - in a very easy language at that - about the real core of any business: its customers. An in doing so, Mr. Walton proposes his own mantras for success.

I first read this book as a student of MBA..believe it or not, this book was a prescribed reading for the course..and rightly so too!

Whether as a coffee table read, or a serious learning of the principles behind Walmart's success, this book is a must read!
