My first deck.

Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law!

I don't understand what people are on about saying this deck isn't for beginners.

I've had nothing but success with this deck. I'm lucky to have gotten a deck that was neither faded or tinted green.

The deck I found to be more accurate than the Rider-White deck and it's derivatives. Also it doesn't divide the cards into a positive or negative aspects. Instead you have to actually think and look at how the cards all relate to each other to get a reading.

I loved this and the spread is better than the Celtic Cross that only looks at past-present-future. The spread here looks at influences and possible futures as well as what is affecting the situation and what is influencing the event and what if anything can be done to affect this. The cards can also be linked to the Kabala and Astronomy for even more in depth analyzes.

I haven't learned enough to use this aspect yet. But when I will I can only grow with this deck. As I learn more and more.

All I can say is buy this deck. But make sure the cards are okay. If you can look at the cards in the box.

If the Box isn't green chances are your okay.

Love is the Law. Love under Will.

Grand evolution of the tarot!

This deck is the deck to end all decks. It was my 3rd set of card when I first began studying long ago. 1st was Rider-Waite, 2nd IJJ Swiss. This set the standard even in todays mass market of Tarot production.

I already had a strong foundation in astrology,(the Thoth deck specializes in this) and Egyptian Myth. This was all too easy to understand the occult depth. Then the ultimate assistant in reading is the minors have the meanings written out for you. How convenient for beginners and those bad with memorization!LOL!

The majors all hold deep meaning with many of life's lessons! The Chariot is colored so vibrantly and the Death card means business! The Universe is my personal favorite.

There has been much written about this deck. Most of which goes over my head.I am not a Thelemite or Golden Dawn practitioner. The philosophy goes over my head. Crowleys work in general is far out there!

It is my humble opinion that he left behind something that will last for years, maybe centuries to come. That is his wonderful Tarot deck. I simply refer to it as the Thoth. It shines, frightens and guides many around the world on a daily basis. What more could a reader ask for?

Update

I heard about the Thoth Tarot Deck long ago and learnt about it via the interpretations by Gerd Ziegler, who describes each card in detail. But I had never seen them with my own eyes. Luckily the time came when I decided to buy them. They surpassed the expectations built by Ziegler's descriptions. I've been using a number of other Tarot decks. Buying the Thoth Tarot was like buying a new computer equipped with all the new programs and having all the new facilities - eye-opening, exciting, bright and unlimited like the world itself - with my understanding only few of them... The symbolism of the Thoth Tarot deck also surpasses my knowledge of the occult, which is restricted to astrology and some Jungianism and which is short of Kabbalah so important for understanding Aleister Crowley's creation. But this is not the problem of the cards.

Visually Stunning, But Harder to Master

This is by far one of the most beautiful decks I've ever owned, and one of the more powerful working tools out there. I recommend it to people who want to add to a collection and to those who wish to do serious work and study with their tarot decks.

The deck does deviate in many places from the "standard" Rider-Waite format and interpretations, and it uses Kabbalistic symbols and interpretations, so it isn't the best choice for a beginning or intermediate reader. I do highly recommend hunting down a copy of the helpful companion book for this deck because it gives a full card synopsis and exploration of the meaning of each card.

Art Nouveau Masterpiece

Conceptualized by Aleister Crowley and illustrated by Lady Frieda Harris, Aleister Crowley's 'Thoth' Tarot deck is a wonderful example of the revival of Art Nouveau style that came out of the WPA era. The colors of this particular edition of the Thoth deck seem a little more subdued and earthy than earlier editions, but it is still pleasing to the eye.
Many of the human figures have a great sense of drama and movement to them and much of the background imagery is both organic and industrial, giving the deck a very modern feel. Quite a few of the cards seem like stained glass windows, like 'Adjustment' - Crowley's version of 'Justice'. My personal favorite is the 'Queen of Disks', featuring a woman wearing a horned hat, with a small ram looking questioningly from the corner of the card.
The minor arcana are fairly standard, with simple depictions of cups, swords, discs and wands. Each one is different, but it's still easy to say, "Oh, that's the three of wands!" People who find imagery of pentagrams disturbing may find relief in the Thoth deck as the discs have Hebrew characters or other small symbols on them instead of the familiar five-pointed star.
For someone new to Tarot, or someone more familiar to the Rider-Waite standards of Tarot design, some of the names of the major arcana might be confusing, and the Golden Dawn decks reverse the positions of the 'Justice' (called 'Adjustment') and 'Strength' (called 'Lust') cards. I personally have trouble with wands being associated with fire and swords being associated with air - to me, it should be the other way around, so that's how I read the cards. The one other thing I don't like about any of the 'Thoth' decks I've had over the years is the size of the cards themselves. I have petite hands, and the Thoth deck is wider than most cards I've used, so it's hard to handle and shuffle the deck. The card size is only advantageous to the artwork - the larger landscapes mean more to see.
