WOW SOLANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On
Sol
ange's first c.d I fell in love with a song called "Crush" produced by the Neptunes. I just wished more of the 1st c.d could have been that type of song. I had a hunch I should give her a chance again because I know she's a talented writer, I was more curious than anything else. I must say Solange has truly impressed me. From begining to end you can listen to this c.d straight through. It's fresh and new, but it seems so classic, and retro with a throwback sort of feel. This c.d makes me feel good! "My God Given Name" sets the tone for the c.d and explains that she'll never be her sister so get over it already! "T.O.N.Y" (the other night oh y) is another gem that makes me think of nights I'd like to question, "Dancing in the Dark" is gorgeous, and haunting. "Would've been the one" is full of such emotion, and reminds me a previous love. I have to admit I even shed a few tears listening to that song. "I told you so", of course " I decided", "6oclock Blues" Valentines Day" and "Ode to Marvin" are all beautiful songs. Solange has a great singing voice, she has some nice rifts, and I didn't realize how much range she has, oh and the background vocals and arrangments are sick (in a good way). Call me crazy but I consider this a modern classic!

Who Knew?
I must admit I slept on this album. I wasn't really impressed with her debut. But this? This works. It's fun and decidely different from the Knowles we have come to know and love. This style of music seems to work very well for her and I could not be more captivated by this album. She deals with modern themes but it is music as it should be, in my humble opinion.
Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams
Decent, not great, two songs on the album I thoroughly enjoyed: Track 6-"I Decided", and Track 11-"Cosmic Journey" (featuring Bilal)
Sol-Angel & The Hadly St. Dreams "Solange"
Who would have thought? Two great artists from the same family?? Beyonce's little sister has a great hit on her hands with "I Decided" I wasn't particularly struck by any of the other tracks but "I Decided" impressed me from the first time I heard and saw it performed. It has a beat that sticks with you, sort of takes you back to an earlier time in music. The few bars of "Heat Wave" was ingenious, it fits and gives the track that extra something that makes it memorable.

Good Disc overall...of course with some flaws, but who records a perfect disc anymore ? I think it was a
sol
id effort but sometimes being different can be complicated when u overdo it, but I would recommend the disc for all REAL music fans...it has that retro feel & I love the fact that Solange uses a REAL band. As for Amazon, thanks again for a job well done !.
