Xbox 360 console is great!
The
Xbox
360
with the
60GB
hard
drive
seems quieter, and of course with the larger hard drive I can download more data.
I wanted the newer one for the Netflix downloads that will occur this Fall.
I am really looking forward to the user interface update this Fall. Now, with the new price drops this is definitely the best gaming
console
hands down.
No Amazon price guarantee
Unfortunately i just bought this item ( 3rd one so far since launch ) for 349.99 and i was looking around and i saw there was a price drop effective TOMORROW! I read DANS review and calmed down. Then i called amazon (
hard
to find number which is 800-201-7575 by the way) to see if they did a price guarantee on this item. They told me that effective september 1st they no longer had a price guarantee. So basically i payed 50 more but its not a big deal. i just should have looked around better first. So if you recently bought this item and think that you will get a refund for the difference of the new price you are wrong. but overall i am happy because this is a great system with great games and great support. thats why i rated it 5 stars

Works fine. Seems faster, but a bit loud.
I bought it to replace a failed
xbox
360
unit 1.5 year old. CC ext. warranty issued a full refund.
This revision looks exactly as previous ones, just smaller power brick (175W).
The changes are inside: 4 Memory chips on the bottom removed and the ones on top are doubled.
MS believes bottom memory chips overheating was primary cause of RRoD due to a bad ventilation.
Time will tell if it is true...
Good Luck with yours!
Ghosts make me give this 4stars
I've been playing for a month now, and am utterly in love with this
console
. Migrate from pc to consoles can be not a very easy decision to deal with, but well... I chosed
xbox
instead of the others.
I really really really really would love to rate this with even 6 or 7 stars out of 5, but the ghost behind it makes me rate it with 4.
It's just a shame that such an unbelieveable console has to make us be worrying about issues like overheating, which chipset it has, how to keep it cool, keep it away from dust bla bla bla. When I decided to migrate to a console I mainly wanted to get rid of the headache of regularly checking my pc specs in order to keep playing games at decent levels and performance. I wanted something that ensured me that I would get top notch graphics and not have to worry about its components. Plug and play, have fun and be amazed by all the newest releases... and partially got that... as for what this console can do, but everytime I turn it on I get this awful feeling that tells me: there's your first rrod ever!!! but so far so good, never had a problem but hey, it's been only a month!!!! and I find myself with all these recurring ideas storming me... if it wasnt for the outstanding graphics and fun I'd be hating it and never want to buy one again.
If I get RRODed soon, I will get another one, since I live outside the US and have no warranty, and hopefully those jasper chipsets really fix the problem, or maybe they will be just another hoax from microsoft just to make us buy more and more of these flaw machines.
Amazon delivered the item in perfect conditions, cant complain, great as always.
this version isn't that noisy, I didnt have the previous one but this one doesnt really bother me. I use it with a hd 42 lcd tv, hooked to the hdmi port... absolutely amazing. Best gaming experience I've had so far.
It does heat up a bit, but just what you'd expect from a console, nothing out of this world. I couldnt really believe that it gets rroded because of that amount of heat, my tv or stereo systems get hotter than this console but people keep saying that it dies. Actually havent really read a comment saying that these ones manufactured in june 08 got rrod, sure it's been only 2 months, but well... time will tell if these falcon chipsets work better or not... If I have this for at least a year and a half I'll be more than satisfied.
If only microsoft really knew how to make consoles!!! they could definitely rule the gaming market. I read on some gaming webpages that they always knew about these flaws, but released them anyway. They wanted to save some million dollars and did not invest just a bit more in developing a decent
hard
ware for these. What a capitalist shame!
Anyway, buy this if you can return it to MS or if you don't care taking the risk. It'd be better if you could wait until the new chipsets come out, but you'd still have to wait and see if they really work. I did not want to wait and took the risk, if it dies I will wait for the new jaspers to come out and buy a new one, one more time. For me, it's definitely worth it.

For Cryin' Out Loud
I think that if you own a
360
, you will experience the Red Ring of Death. I had the 360 for only a year and it died, and that is actually a long time for it not to break according to some other people who have also had this problem. So, sooner or later, the Grim Reaper will find your 360. It is a shame to. I'd recommend waiting until a new version of the 360 is released before you buy one. I've heard there is one in the works, so wait
