Useful and fun

Pros: You can just touch the screen and do what you want instead of having to move the mouse around trying to find the little arrow. The HP IQ506 is fast. Even set up requires only the power plug and you're up and running. It's the next generation of computers and it's fun to use which encourages you to get your work done.
Cons: Had a problem with the wireless keyboard.

A pretty good computer but not great

I have used this product for several and have had a number of problems and future buyers should be aware of them.

The system is easy to sit up and get running. The process of entering your information, establishing internet service and signing on to Norton Antivirus is very simple.

Norton Antivirus is not a good choice for this computer.

The computer would not let me download Itunes. I kept getting a message that said another program was installing. The only way I could download Itunes was to go into the task manager and under the processes tab turn off the microsoft installer program. After that Itunes would install.

I encountered the same problem when attempting to install Microsoft updates. Same message, another program is installing. Same procedure, turn off the microsoft installer program in the task manager.

The system was unstable. When doing transfers from the hard drive to my USB hard drive it would sometimes freeze. It would freeze sometimes when I was just playing solitaire.

Curiously, when I got rid of Norton antivirus, suddenly I could install microsoft updates. The computer quit freezing up.

Now the systems boots up really fast, and shuts down quickly.

Since the system is a 64 bit machine you will run into some prgram incompatibilities with purchased software. The microsoft office suite works just fine. The computer doesn't like Itunes 8 however. It ran Itunes 7 without a hitch.

The touchscreen feature is cute but not really useful. It get fingerprints all over the screen as well.

Generally, I like the computer despite the problems because is wireless. No cord clutter. Runs better with AVG antivirus (free version), Ad Aware and Ccleaner.

Great Product, but slow service

My wife and bought our HP IQ504 about one month ago, and while we are pleased with the product, we still do not have a functional mouse and keyboard. Our wireless keyboard and mouse were D.O.A., and while the tech support has been very polite, they have not been able to send me a new set. I just recently figured out the problem after hassling the c.s. people everyday. Something about how their system has a malfunction which won't allow them to put an order in for a new keyboard/mouse. This was supposed to be resolved by yesterday, but they've yet to clear up the problem. I'd say we are less than satisfied with HP concerning this issue. It's very frustrating to spend this much on a new system and everything not be in perfect working order. We purchased a usb keyboard, and used our old wireless mouse, so we can actually use the computer.
Aside from that, we really enjoy the product. The included TouchSmart software is easy to use. Icons are large enough, and we'll definitely use it regularly, but I wouldn't consider ditching the mouse completely. Even my 3 1/2 yr old can use the computer with the included Purble Place games, since he hasn't quite mastered the use of a mouse.
The only other nagging issue is that iTunes loads properly only about 30% of the time. I'm guessing this has something to do with the fact that it is a 64-bit O.S, but after working through all suggested fixes, I'm still left with a colorless iTunes screen. We will also want to add some speakers because the built in ones are kind of weak.
If it weren't for our customer support issues, I would give this product 5 stars.

HP "Touchsmart"

I recieved my HP Touchsmart on August 25th (just in time for school) and after only 4 days of use, the "touchsmart" feature stopped working. I didn't use the touchscreen a lot, but when I went to use it one day, it wouldn't respond to touch anymore. After several attempts to fix it, than it froze and the only way to restart it was by unplugging it. Now don't get me wrong, I think it's a great computer: its quick, it can store a lot, it works well with games, and it has many other great features, but this was upsetting to me. It cost a lot of money and I really needed it for school because I have 2 online classes. After restoring it and everything, it still wouldn't work. Sooo, I had to send it back to HP so they could fix it and 2 weeks later I finally got it back (after already being in school for 2 weeks). It seems to be working fine, but I'm hesitant to use the touchscreen a lot.
