Yum! Yum! So this is what good espresso tastes like.
I am no coffee gourmet and was not looking for an Espresso particularly. I just love good coffee. At Starbucks my favorite drink has been the triple shot expresso almost dry (just a tiny bit of foamed steamed milk). But that is a $5 drink and not an everyday indulgence. In addition, who has the time to run to Starbucks every morning! So I just wanted a decent coffee for mornings which was smooth, medium roasted and slightly sweet. I've found the perfect coffee in Lavazza Espresso. I've also tried all kinds of premium coffee blends but Lavazza has the aroma, smoothness and rounded sweetish aftertaste that I like. You don't need to add milk or sugar even and it still tastes great, unlike some beans that taste bitter when ground finely for an espresso.
I use this coffee in my Bialetti 6-Cup Moka Express (good for 2 small cups of coffee) which I bought after trying it at a friend's place. It was cheap and makes a wonderful expresso, the traditional Italian way. Next, I want an Aerolatte Frother, Satin Finish to create milk foam and I will reach coffee nirvana. I drove by a Starbucks today and suddenly felt like a good coffee, so I kept on driving till I got home to the Lavazza!

I am a certifiable coffee fanatic and when I went to check out the different coffees available on Amazon, I was especially intrigued by LavAzza Italian Coffee. I just had two cups of the stuff and it is by FAR better than the usual brand I buy (Peet's) and MILES away better than Starbucks. For the price, this was MORE than worth it. The coffee has such a silky and gentle flavor that I can actually drink it black. ( I usually use a bit of milk but I don't need to now!) Please give this coffee a try! You will not be disappointed. And for the price, it's definitely a bargain! Delicious!

In my opinion, for the price this is the best Espresso coffee that you can buy.
bleh...overrated 
I usually don't buy ground coffee. For espresso, you really need to grind your coffee right before you brew. Unfortunately, I didn't have access to my grinder, so I had to buy this. The flavor is flat, boring and teetering on the edge of revolting. It also produced a very thin (but persistent) crema. I read other reviews saying that they got a decent crema. But I have to wonder, was anyone with a NON-PRESSURIZED portafilter able to obtain a respectable crema with this? If you don't know whether or not your portafilter is pressurized, then it probably is. When I combined it with some steamed milk, I was able to drink it, but it wasn't any better than Starbuck's. It was somewhat bitter, but not overly bitter. It did have an interesting flavor in the background that I wasn't able to identify, but it in no way made up for the otherwise lackluster espresso. I think the problem with this coffee is that it is pre-ground (always grind fresh for espresso) and of course it was probably roasted months ago since it was imported from Italy. I would probably give this product a 2.5 if I could give half stars.
