Vey Funny
Along
Came
Polly
shows a very different style of comedy for Ben Stiller. In this movie he is almost to the point of being neurotic. He works for a risk analyst firm. Certain observations, such as bar peanuts, will have you laughing out loud. Jennifer Aniston is also great in this movie, especially with her blind ferret. She is very eccentric, enjoying ethnic food, as well as salsa, or as Ben Stiller calls it Dirty Dancing.
The opening scene with the scuba instructor will have you laughing so hard you will find it difficult to hear to movie.
Would recommend, very good date movie. It has the comedy as well as though 'aww' moments that all women love.
If you do purchase the DVD be sure to see the outtakes of the movie. So of them are funnier then the actual movie.

You learn to love it...
...and by that I mean; I usually have to see the typicall Ben Stiller-comedy (like indeed this one is) a couple of times before I notice all the details that makes this kind of romantic-comedy funny. Take Alec Baldwin, Stillers' characters' annoying boss, well, the first I did not really "notice" him, but now; Every time I see "

" I'm able to laugh out loud even watching it for myself when the movie gets to the toilet-scene. He he, what a pig -and who doesn't recognize themselves in that situation. I mean, These people do exist, the people who never clean their hands after a visit in "the white room" and have their nasty fingers all over. Also the other "pig" who "sharted" at the party where we first meet Polly is hysterical. I somehow just had to get used to the "rhythm" of this comedy, today being one of my favorites.

Let It Rain!
This movie fits the mold of a romantic comedy perfectly. Stiller does well and has some hilarious moments. Jennifer Anniston supports his purpose and does well on her own, also.
For me, the standout role was played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman. From the equivocal sex and relationship advice he gives to Stiller's character - to his commentary on the basketball court (screaming out "Let It Rain", "Iceman" and "Raindrops" while his gut comes flying out of his shirt, for example), he is hilarious. Hoffman also gets to speak the most memorable line of the movie when he tells Stiller's character that he just sharted and that it is indeed time to leave the party.
I recommend this movie if you're a fan of most Ben Stiller movies. It's a movie that will remind you of a dozen other romantic comedies, but it is worth the viewing.

a classic piece of movie dialogue
Silly and ultimately pointless but generally amusing throughout with some top lines that had me laughing out loud. Philip Seymour Hoffman was his usual awesome best and had this killer exchange with Ben Stiller:
- Dude, no this is serious, i just sharted.
- I don't know what that means
- I tried to fart & a little sh**

out. I just sharted. Now lets go.
Also, I started fancying Jennifer Anniston about half way through which worried me a bit. A lot actually. Mind you, she is a big Jeff Buckley and Nick Drake fan so she can't be that bad.

Enjoyable but Slight
As a cute romantic comedy,
ALONG
CAME
POLLY
breezes along on the personalities of Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston with a few laugh out-loud scenes usually missing from such fluff. Both actors make as much as their characters and situations as they can, and Stiller continues his sometimes excruciating exercises in humiliation that made MEET THE PARENTS such a hit.
But the second half of the film falters since the suspense of its plot--will Stiller take back the wife who was unfaithful to him (on their honeymoon!)?--feels contrived and ridiculous. The audience would quickly turn on such a spineless man.
There are worse "comedies" out there these days, so ALONG CAME POLLY is worth watching for a few laughs.
