The power and the beauty of the music is mind-blowing and Yo-Yo Ma's performance is astonishing. There is a mixture of gentle and emotional tracks beside some high-energy numbers. Altogether, this is a remarkable musical & artistic feast for anyone who wants to recall some eminent movies while listening to this music, or just enjoy and explore the wide range of emotions. Astonoshing rendition of Morricone on Cello

It is Morricone's genius to compose those original scores for films.
However it took the genius of Yo-yo Ma to conceive the idea of performing them on cello - and what a performance. The very idea is itself a tremendous innovation.

Great music from groundbreaking movies, arranged for solo cello and orchestra. Selections are arranged roughly into suites by the director of each film (e.g. the Sergio Leone Suite, the Brian de Palma Suite, etc.) Ennio Morricone's work (recently celebrated with a Screen Actor's Guild Lifetime Achievement Award) more than sets the tone for each movie, it becomes a character in each movie -- when you hear a certain theme played, you are instantly transported back to that moment when you first heard it. A definite must have for film buffs, soundtrack enthusiasts and fans of Morricone or Ma.
