My First DeWalt - Excellent

An electrician doing some work at my house had this tool and recommended it, so I gave it to myself as a Christmas gift (who better). It is one tool I use all the time. It is extremely versatile as a screwdriver and makes a great drill for SMALL jobs (even though it is not designed as a drill). I love my B&D Versapac screwdrivers, but this beats them by far. This was my first Dewalt tool and I was so happy with it I bought two more as gifts for my brother in law and a lifelong friend. Replacement batteries are a bit expensive, so when the time is right I will probably just buy a whole new set. I highly recommend this tool.

Brute of a screwdriver

While sold as a screwdriver, the DeWalt DW920K-2 is also a very practical drill motor and nut driver. I use it on projects that do not require beefy drill motors. The size and weight is excellent for extended use without the tiresome effects of the standard drill motor. The batteries charge quickly and have very good life. I have been using DeWalt products for many years and I truly believe that they are the best products available.

Purchasers have different needs when they buy tools. I am a DIY'er and I wanted a portable, cordless, driver to replace one that would no longer hold a charge. My new driver would be used in my shop and around our house. It would do those things I would otherwise use a standard screwdriver for. I also wanted a ni-cad battery. At 7.2 v. this unit meets my needs. It is comfortable to use and it is conveniently stored in a hard case.
It is my understanding that this unit is being discontinued by DeWalt which may explain the reduced price, which fits in with my philosophy of paying only a reasonable price for tools that I would like to have but can get along without.

Best all around cordless screwdriver out there.

I'm a full time home inspector ( www.ableinspector.com )and I literally use this every day. I'm now online for a new battery as one is dead and the the other one is losing power, but this is after 6 years of continual daily use.

It strains a bit, but can drive a 2.5" screw into wood, one battery charge lasts me 3 to 4 days of daily use.

Oh - and in 6 years of daily use I have never once lost a bit due to the collar lock system. I'm not sure why others have problems, but I sure don't. Maybe they just need to learn to use the tool better??

I knocked one star off because I feel the batteries could be slightly higher quality. they're not bad, but could be better.

Overall, this is by far the best cordless screwdriver I've ever found. It is real heavy-duty tool for heavy duty use.
