A powerfully moving character
A very strong read. I had to put the book down and compose myself a few times. I contantly had to remind myself to breath, in anticipation of what was to come. The book dealt with some hard, real issues. The writer is a master at his craft, his style of language is a delight to read, even with the difficult pages that dealt with powerful scenes, he entices you to not wimp out. And you are rewarded with each following sentence.
An amazing novel

is an amazing novel from start to finish. At first I didn't know what to expect from this book because I knew nothing about the Afghan culture or the country besides the war. But after reading this novel I had a whole new perspective on the Afghan culture and the country. I thought the book was really long being 300 plus pages, but it turned out to be a short read. I started reading it, kept turning pages, and the next thing I knew I was finished in a week and half. The book is filled with many themes such as redemption, forgiveness, guilt, honor, loyalty, and tradition. The novel had everything you can ask for in a novel from friendships to betrayals, love and hate, fear and hope, and a lot of unexpected surprises. My favorite theme in the book was transformation. Amir proves to have a very interesting life as he makes a transformation from his child hood to his adulthood.
You need to read the book because the movie doesn't do it justice. So do yourself a favor and just read it.

a real page turner. Charming and heartbraking story
How anyone could give this a one star review is beyond me. Granted, the suthor has no literary tricks up his sleeve. The prose is not fancy or out of the ordinary. But the story is deeply affecting and heartbreaking and you will be burning through this book as fast as you can turn the pages. I think I read this in 3 or 4 nights.
It goes to show that you can do some things in your youth that you can never truly receover from....or lose the feelings of guilt from.
