Sad book
Being overweight I was interested in reading this book. It was so sad at times. I could relate to some of the book. I am glad it had a somewhat happy ending.
I admire her honesty
I admire her for being so candid and brutally honest. I found the book very hard to put down....I'd love to read a new book with an update of her struggle.
Hard to put down
The story flows at a good pace. I was grossed out by some of the things she did (the phone sex), etc. which could have been left out of the book. You will lose your appetite after reading these parts. It is an inspiring story of overcoming food addiction. It made me appreciate my own life. This lady went through a lot of turmoil, I wish her continued success. I am glad I am not her.

entertaining!
It definitely was hard to put this book down, and that's the kind of book I want to read. I found myself laughing out loud, then later sheading a tear towards the end. I'm not obese but definitely struggle with a weight problem. It's just awesome to hear that someone who is a whole heckuva lot bigger than me, found the strength to lose more than 200 lbs. It's inspirational. I can understand one reader's criticism of how the majority of her book is all about her "fat life", the bingeing, and all the gory details, chapters and chapters of it, and then suddenly she's at the clinic, losing the weight, and NOT a lot of detail. I could have stood to read a lot more about that part of her life. But nonetheless, it was a great read!

An honest & compelling read, BUT wish author would address...
I found this to be a very compelling book -- the kind that's hard to put down at times! For anyone who has genuinely struggled with their weight time and again, especially those who are or have been at some point "closet/secret" eaters, this book will strike a nerve. It's brutally (& sometimes painfully) honest, which is so refreshing...BUT I just wish the author's honesty would extend to her continuing weight struggles!!! Like some of the other reviewers have posted, I was very surprised to see Susan Blech on the Today Show looking VERY hefty...and NOT saying a word about it! She has obviously regained some of the weight she lost, which is understandable and to be expected. BUT not one word was spoken about it. Instead both Susan and the interviewer talked about the book and Susan's weight struggles as though they remained things of the past! The fact that she has regained weight does NOT invalidate the book for me...BUT I just wish she would be honest about it. The fact that she isn't loses her a star in my rating!
