Every thinking individual should read this book
This excellent book has nothing to do with whether you
are
a Republican or a Democrat. Any one, who does not get this basic message, is the reason for this book. This book should be a part of every school's curriculum. It is our duty to educate ourselves on political matters. Unlike Europe, the
American
social or work place discourages political discourse. This is one of the main reasons for the electorate's numbing ignorance. I think we are as ignorant of our country's strengths or weaknesses as the Romans were before Rome's fall. Politicians will continue to manipulate us as long as we remain ignorant.

If you are not a "parrot" read this book
Very well written book.
Easy to ready, right to the point,
it makes you think, what a refreshing concept.
This book is not
about
democrats or republicans,
it is about being
stupid
or being smart.
To think properly you need the facts, not premeditated
shallow political opinions.
This book is for an independent mind, if you "think" you have
one, read it.... then think on your own.
Beacoup de
Just
one more title not to be added to the No Child Left Behind reading bibliography. On my first day in French class, we discussed exactly what meant great big bunches of, huge bucket loads of... Well, to answer the question of "Just
How
Stupid
Are
We?," the answer is beacoup de. America is captive to sound bites and fear of gays marrying, African-
American
s having constitutional rights, even women, and especially poor folks. We have no problem voting against our own best interests to ensure some evil political jackass is re-elected. You explain the manipulation. I cannot. Two great quotes from Shenkman are "More than half of all Americans have some college education- yet they are no more knowledgeable in civics than Americans a half-century ago..." and "Nearly half of the eligible
voter
s don't vote and many of those who do don't seem to know what they're voting for." This book deserves a six star, but I am only awarding four because, in the grand scheme of things, it will not make one whit of difference.
