Outstanding refresher for when you, or your employees, are in a "ditch". This book has been required reading for all leaders on my staff, and we are now requiring it for all department employees in 2007.

Mark has done it again by distilling all that he has learned and observed about people and leadership over the years into a succinct, easy to read book that is chock full of real life stories and take home messages that any reader should be able to relate to. It was about 15 years ago that I first heard Mark speak at a conference in Denver. I was so moved and motivated by his words that I immediately did two things. I implemented a few keepers from his talk into my everyday life and as a result I am a better and more productive person in many ways and secondly, I wrote Mark a letter thanking him for making such a powerful difference in my life.

This book is a succinct executive summary of Mark's insight into the topic of leadership. I especially benefitted from the message and examples he gives related to focus and the need to retreat periodically from the numerous devices we use in business to stay connected and then focus on developing your agenda for getting things done. Secondly, Mark hammers home the power of service leadership and giving back. I am giving this book to my close friends.
